Hi,
I've recently been thinking about a potential 2300AD plotline for players to follow based upon chaining several Challenge adventures (which are online) together with modifications. This is explicitly set in the prime canon universe, and places the players as the crew of a "special forces" type stealthy intruder scout directly under the command of La Force Humaines (the unified space command for all Terran forces fighting the Kafers). It goes:
1. Lone Wolf (link to an online version) - February-May 2301
Instead of giving the players a cruiser, give them a Killiecrankie class Intruder Scout (see Three Blind Mice, next). The players are either a British, American or French warship crew given a stealthy scoutship with the intent to infilitrate Kafer space. However, before the mission can launch, a Kafer battleship breaks into the French Arm on a recce-in-force. They are retasked to try and track the Kafer intruder down and vector Terran naval assets onto it for destruction.
2. Three Blind Mice, (link to an online version) - August 2301-late 2302
Having refit from hunting the Lone Wolf, the ships deploy to their forward operating base. The plans to scout Kafer space are placed on hold and the players are tasked with scouting the region behind the Kafer lines, and trying to pick out routes for the relief force for Aurore out. Once it is known that the Kafers have a secret base on Wiseman, the players will be assigned to land a special forces raid on the planet ca. December 2301. Once the Siege of Eta Bootis is broken in January 2302, the players will be taked to penetrate Kafer space, initially collecting signals intelligence. However, a number of things should happen:
2a. Discovery of the Humans at DM+19 2881 and their Rescue
This is a Kafer PW camp for captured humans. The players should discover this and, on return, be tasked with landing a raid on the planet to liberate the prisoners.
2b. Discovery of the nature of Kafer politics and dealing with one of the disaffected Suzerains-of-Destiny
2c. Discovery of the Ylii homeworld.
3. Operation Backdoor (link to an online version) - November 2302 to mid 2303
A mission to supply the Ylii with arms to help fend of the Kafer suzerain-of-destiny Great One, who has managed to conquer the last remaining Ylii colonies in quick succession, and is preparing to attack their homeworld. Rather than a contrived and unworkable brown dwarf and tug arrangement, the players are going through Kafer space. They are escorting a stealthy French transport loaded with heavy weapons.
Luckily, there is political chaos in the Kafer Associative following the death of Triumphant Destiny. TD's old territory is up for grabs and What Strikes will be sending its' fleet there to secure it, leaving a route through that's not too heavily guarded.
At the Ylii homeworld there is negotiation, and the players help fight off an attack by Great One before exfiltrating. They are sabotaged by an Abwehr agent during the exfiltration, and finally hunt him down on Earth...
