I've been playing with some ideas to incorporate the fact that space is 3 dimensional in the game. Nothing drastic mind you, just changes to reflect that we are in space not on the ocean:
Roll: Ship rolls P to S (Essentially Upside Down) This allows ships with one side weapons out to bring the other side to bear. Cost is 1 turn. Indicate upside down ships with a U-Turn counter on its base.
Flip: CQ 9, Ship flips end over end. On the turn the maneuver is executed the ship must move at least 1/2 its movement rate forward and then ends the turn facing the opposite direction
Flip could be made a little more complex by requiring the ship to be stationary the following turn as well. (i.e. canceling momentum to begin moving in the opposite direction.)
