2nd ed EA

Think the Mongoose fluff had them developed from League tech, although the names of the League stuff may vary (Abbai and Markab I think). Have to go back and check but wherever the source of the technology, it came into service at the same time.

Well in AoG background all the League races pulse type weapons were developed from Dilgar Pulsars as well...

It would make sense with all the Dilgar weapon prototype EA ships which appeared in the E-M war book.

(In fact if you look at the large computer model of the Thorun in the AoG Dilgar War book then you can see a possible inspiration for the Starfuries thruster pods...)

Remember that the different time periods were only one reason for the split up of the EA list - the other reason was that EA had so freakingly many ships, that they were getting in each others way.

For my part, I like the different fleets quite a lot - each has its own character, style and tactics now.

I think the Centauri and the Brakari now have more........ :)

Are you factoring variants into that?

Brakiri have gained five new ships but had a lot fewer to begin with...

Centauri have actually lost ships since the removal of several variants...

The Tiger Starfury has a pair of big engines behind the cockpit, but also the small manoeuvering engines on the tips of the wings. The Nova Starfury (very similar hull as the Aurora) was in use toward the end of the Dilgar War. Fluff-wise, they were able to dramatically improve the wing-tip engines to the point that they did not need the hull engines anymore.

Maybe the Dilgar and EA were just both treading down the same design path for an ideal space superiority fighter.

I did add it up recently but at work so not to hand to look- I thought the Centauri had the most, then the Brakiri then the varied EA fleets but could be wrong..........

Incidentally Da Boss, from what I've heard of 2nd Ed it might be time to change that 'Your better off with a maximus' signature (since its hardly a ship that can really stand on its own any more!

Yes and no ! You are better off if you use it right now - guarding my Liati / Demos squadron. :) Although I get what you are saying its no atatck ship - although AP double damage guns is ok! :D

have fun!

maybe - you are better off with Centauri!? :)

Well my calculations show that (ignoreing space stations, satellites and Breeching Pods) at the very end of 1e the Centauri had 33 ships/fighters, Brakiri 15, and EA total (spread between the three fleets) 36.

The Brakiri have gained a couple of extra fighters over their present number, the EA lost the Nemisis and Shadow Omega, the Centauri lost several pointless variants. The EA actually gained several "new" variants (ships with different stats in the different fleets).

So the Centauri may have passed the total EA (I haven't got the new rules yet so don't know what other things changed in the EA lists...) but the Brakiri have got a long way to go before the pass the EA for ship/fighter types.
