Emperor Mongoose
[OK, so I'm re-reading the Invasion set and this suddenly smacked me in the face. There are three inspirations for this: the old wartime TAS News from JTAS, the street concert videos of U2 and Midnight Oil back in the day, and all the troops singing 'Teenaged Dirtbag' in the Humvee in 'Generation Kill'. Enjoy.]

{Your holo projector shows a familiar woman reporter dressed club-wear, which is a real change from her normally buttoned-down corpo image. In the background is Tanstaafl's breached Dome 2, it's evening but lights are shining in Tan-City's core as a crowd is lining up to get into a stadium. Overhead in the far distance you can barely see an X-fighter doing lazy ovals over the city.}

"This is Sophie Patna reporting LIVE from Tanstaafl City as the newest slap-rock sensation to hit the Frontier prepares to go onstage in it's first live show!"
"'Ramrod-66' gained notice last year when their underground war anthem 'Get Some' hit the Link. The song was uploaded by a third party and the raw visual of two soldiers playing acoustic guitars, one beating on a waste can bottom in time, and fourth playing the jury-rigged 'twanger' that is the signature sound for slap-rock immediately struck a cord here on Aurora and kept snowballing down the French Arm. While entirely acoustic and completely unprocessed, the lyrics and passion by which they were sung have struck a nerve all through the French Arm."
"It took Link-watchers several months to finally identify the group and their popularity tripled when it was learned that the band is made up of active members of the Tanstaafl Free Legion stationed at Fort Blackbird and who record their music between active service period and local patrols."
"The band's popularity exploded all across Frontier Link nodes from here on Aurore to BCV and beyond. Last night they released their album files for 'Shellback Collection', a collection of singles directly relating to the band's experiences hunting Kaefers on this war-torn world. Notable tracks include 'Firefight For Freedom', 'Don't Touch My [expletive deleted] 'Roo', and the haunting ballad, 'I'm Gonna Miss You When I'm Gone'."
"Tickets are sold out for tonight's show, but there are will-call spaces available to people who bring a food donation to Tanstaafl Relief. All cash proceeds will go to Tanstaafl Militia Relief, a charity that sees to the needs of Tanstaafl Militia's medical needs and the families of the dead."
"We are told that, despite rumors, there will NOT be a second show inasmuch as Ramrod-66 will be going back out on patrol by the end of this week."
"This is Sophie Patna for I3V's English Service, signing off. Now go 'GET SOME!"

{Your holo blips several times as your agent program skips past several advertisements you've blocked and then goes dark}
