1/72 Germans for World at War

Here's a mix of Revell and Itaeleri 1/72 Germans I recently completed for the upcoming BFevolution:World at War. Matt's article in the last S&P really got me fired up, so I snagged a couple of boxes, took his advice with drybrushing the uniforms, and knocked out these suckers in a couple of hours work time. I'll flock the bases as a group when I finish my next batch of 30. Can't wait for my Americans to arrive in the mail so I'll have couple of armies to demo with.

I included a couple of Forces of Valor tanks and a Dragon Elefant that I won on ebay for $2.

Why does everybody want to play the Germans?

Ok............
Yes i bought Germans too!

Good work Boom.
Makes me wanna paint mine :)

Sad, that in Germany just showing a general interest in anything 'Reich' related makes you look like a Nazi in most people's eyes.

So, not much SS and Wehrmacht wargaming for me

The figures themselves look ace, though the general presentation would be improved by covering the bases in gravel/sand and grass.

Panzers!!! Silly question. Love them or hate them, WWII German tanks just screamed coolness - Looks, Firepower, Protection, Named after aggressive predators - Tigers, Panthers, etc.

The men who crewed them were probably as arrogant as fighter pilots, I know I would have been. :P

Oh, and great job Boomer on the painting of your little fascists!

Your Panzers are FOV, correct?

Totally agree, but I'm finishing up about 30 more troops and wanted to flock them all together at the end.

You've made a good job of them. Can i ask what paint range you used?

A mix of GW, Vallejo and Reaper Master Series, but mostly GW for the details and Vallejo for the uniforms.

Indeed, for the Tiger and King Tiger. The elefant is by Dragon.

Ahh, missed the Elefant. Still, a very nice collection going, and well done on the little guys!

Man I miss having time to paint.

Several of you here and at Evocommand inspire me, and I have no viable outlet for it. I refuse to give up time playing, for painting. Sigh, perhaps when the girls go to college in a few years and I get promoted to a desk-type REMF job, hehe. 8)

I do the same myself!

Finished 22 more, including 10 to be used as an SS squad. I'll finish flocking the bases tonight, but here's the finished paint jobs:

SS Squad.

And the rest of them.

The Americans are next on the painting table. 8)

That elefant looks cool. Do we know if they are in the rules?

1) Drive on table
2) Break down
3) Abandon

job done :)

Isn't that the Maus? hehe Where Elefants that unreliable too?
Elefants were quite unreliable, as they were too heavy for their suspension and engine. However, between point 1 and 3 you need another point - "Destroy several enemy tanks w/o breaking a sweat" ;-)

Unfortunately for the real thing its reliability often let it down before it got a chance to get anywhere near a sweat. And God help them if enemy infantry got anywhere near them!

Well, they were used when the Russians were already moving west, so to "get there" sitting in one place was usually enough ;-) . OTOH many were lost during retreats

And God help them if enemy infantry got anywhere near them!
God help any armored vehicle, if even semi-competent enemy infantry gets anywhere near it ;-)
