    Aging Rules

Our group loved the aging rules of RQ3. We played for a looong time, about 15 years real time, and we had characters who aged about 30 years into their 50s. They retired and gave their stuff to their kids. It was interesting having starting characters with advanced magic items. :)

    Runequest vs D&D

Unless of course the Dodger criticals his dodge against the powerful hit, then he will get pummeled.

    Runequest vs D&D

Disclaimer: All systems have advantages, disadvantages, blah, blah, blah, good GM, blah, blah, played RuneQuest for years, blah, blah, Role-play! I think D&D3.x gets a bit of unwarranted criticism for the number of rules it has. They tried to provide rules for whatever you might need, but there...

What is your favorite race to play?

Absolutely. So at a YOUNG age Elves look much more human, with different shades of skin, greenish or brownish usually, and with human like hair, also in varied colors. Of course they also have eyes that are one solid color, usually green but could be brown, violet, blue or whatever. They are...

What is your favorite race to play?

I chose Aldryami, but not the Tree people Aldryami that recently sprung up. We play with the old-school "beautiful-spiritually-related-to-plants" Aldryami. I believe I mentioned this character's face off with a Death Lord in another thread. I have also played a few Humans and one Great Troll.

    Spirit Combat

Oh, the rules are on a wiki so there is more than just the spirit rules there, but don't expect it to look very pretty. I'm not a web designer. ;)

    Spirit Combat

I started with minor tweaks then went on to wholesale rewrite. I really liked a lot of things about RQ3, which is why I was so excited by MRQ at first. But eventually the number of things that changed or didn't work the way I would like (or didn't work at all) became too much. Eventually I...

    Spirit Combat

I have re-written a lot of the rules. What I came up with for spirit combat actually goes back to the 1st-3rd RQ concept of a battle of wills, not magic items. The rules can be found here

    Silly Poll

I don't think elves would ever line up in a formation. That is not the way they work. Hit and run the whole way. Calvary could be a problem, but the elves historically have had many ways to deal with them (Tanglethicket, Chameleon, or even just mobility spells). Plus Dryads have control over...

    Silly Poll

Not sure how this would play out in MRQ, we have played with just Humans so far, but in RQ3 they are fairly well matched. The Elves have the advantage with ranged combat, hands down. If the Trolls could find them and close, they have the advantage in hand-to-hand combat, but it is not an...

Rule Clarification - Loss of CAs

In play I found it extremely difficult to remember how many CAs people lost and when they could start acting again. Plus losing multiple CAs seemed far to heavy a penalty, especially if the character only had a couple of CAs a round to start with. As a house rule we found it much easier to just...

Petition to keep the old combat tables

I like the new matrix without the opposed roll. It's a nice idea, but I don't think it works well. It also adds a layer of complication that is not really necessary. As for the number of combat actions I, like many others it seems, don't care for the Dex based number of actions. I have a house...

skill penalties for armor in Arms & Equipment?

What I have done for my game is to just use the standard rule but divide by 2. So Full Plate would be 6x7/2=21. So you get -21 to your skills. I also got rid of the -40% to ignore all armor rule. Too powerful. :P

    Concerning the new player's update...

Whew! I'm back. I have been lurking for a long time. Saw this and wanted to post my support. Couldn't get my old account to work though, so created a new one. I think that the changes are just what MRQ needed. Only thing that seems to be a sticking point with the new rules is the attempt to...
