Psionic Rules Clarifications and Suggestions (Core22)

    1) for play, nobody started with psionics. This character 'got them inadvertently' through a fumbled attempt to maintain containment on chronocrystals (long story). 2) it's supposed to take a long time. My players just spent the better part of a year slogging across the Marches, so they got a...

Psionic Rules Clarifications and Suggestions (Core22)

Meh, Psionics RAW are way too much "pick the magic spells you can cast" for me. IMTU Psionics are learned progressively: All Psi skills start at (Difficult, PSI) so 10+ to succeed (unless they specifically start higher). Knowing the next tier makes each previous one another step easier down to...

    Armor details clarification

CSC p13: "...Poly carapace armour imposes DM-1 to all skill checks that require physical action. More advanced lightweight versions are also available that are less bulky, do not restrict movement, but still provides a better protection." There are 3 listed: Poly carapace TL10 Lightweight " "...

    Portrait Packs

Nah, I think you just aren't reading closely. Note I said "just a hair short of naked hypocrisy" - sure, there's a difference between using AI to generate a syllabus and a student using it to write a paper. But IMO the difference is pretty small - thoughtful pedagogy isn't just vomiting a...

Insurance for ship and cargo and rules for salvage

I'm allowing the salvage rules, but unless it's a particular circumstance, 'found salvage' (eg Flatlined if the crew (ahem) end up dead) characters had to file a salvage claim, they'll get the broker-amended salvage claim after 1 year of probate in which other interested parties can file...

Insurance for ship and cargo and rules for salvage

Typical IRL ocean freight insurance is $4.50 per $1000 cargo value. Maybe $6.50 to rough waters. Convert to 5cr per 1kCr value declared? Most IRL ocean claims take about 6 mo to clear.

    Portrait Packs

Not to mention a significant number of professors, TAs and teachers generally are THEMSELVES using AI for curricula, syllabi, and assignments - which is just a hair short of naked hypocrisy. Me? I'm cheerfully using AI as much as I can to provide NPC images, setting images, etc (I have a big...

    Singularity - musings

Mainly, I supported it to support MgT. I'm not going to use it pretty much at all, I don't think.

    Space Stations

What the Navy thinks is optimal will usually take a backseat to what the budget can cover in all but impending- or actual-war situations.

    NPC Rogues Gallery

Every one of my NPCs has an 18-page backstory, full family tree at least 3 generations back, a heatmap of their social relationships across at least the nearest large metro areas and a 2-3 page psychological profile which I have AI check against at least the first-tier 1-paragraph writeups I...

How to let players generate the characters they want without letting them min/max?

I give the players 3 'chargen points'. - they to be spent to give you a -1 on a roll, a +1 on a roll, or a complete reroll - you spend them immediately after you roll (ie you see a result you really don't like) - exception: you may also spend them after all your stats are generated but before...

The Premises of Traveller: 1. "Jump takes a week/No ansibles"

Yes, because literally everything in Traveller is based on actual physics. Brilliant answer. /rollseyes.

The Premises of Traveller: 1. "Jump takes a week/No ansibles"

I could handwave that by simply rationalizing that entanglement physics allow for two devices to communicate with each other, but the 'entangled' particles are destroyed in the process, meaning the capability is consumable; that is, they're finite hideously expensive to produce/preserve until...

Is there an xboat stop at Pax Rulin?

There's an argument for Perrior on practical grounds - if they're as paranoid about civilian ships operating in Pax Rulin as the various sources suggest, I'm not sure it would be a prudent policy to have anything that encouraged any civilian traffic there, much less what amounts to a FEDEX truck...

Is there an xboat stop at Pax Rulin?

Good catch, there is a barely noticeable (to me) bend at Perrior. If Alexin was in 2406 there would be no visible way to tell if there was a stop in Perrior or not (aside from noting the distance making J4 impossible), which is a graphical design failure in the map design imo.
