    [CONAN] Cosmopolitan Hyborian Age?

To add about the silk road, no-one travelled from england to china, either. the traders had their routes and zones and contacts. the piece of silk would prolly go through about 20-40 different trading houses before it ended up in britain.

[CONAN] New Conan Film, very low budget, in Production

You don't need a hell of a lot of money to make the statues to come alive, in the book it was said that they resembled mean looking white guys painted black (not africans). So you can do this relatively cheaply: Cheap talent, that's easy. Maybe 2-3 cameras at most. The sets: will be the most...

[CONAN] How does the Scholar work in other d20 games?

Interesting bit of knowledge I learned about the Sorceror and the multi-class!

    My First Roleplaying Experience

As a 12yr old kid in 1985, I lived in a a suburb of anchorage, alaska. When it was a bad winter day my buddy and I used the DnD (not ADnD) to make up some halflings. He was the DM and also a player, we didn't know what we were doing, and he was prolly guessing the rules, but we had fun with and...

[CONAN] Question - Metal Ore Needed To Make A Sword?

Thanks man, no reason good ore can't be found in Cimmeria. Kinda hoping I'd see some new posts. My RPG group has disintegrated through various methods: wives, kids, divorces, new girlfriends, peer pressure, etc. Let me live vicariously through you guys. One game that I have (but never played)...

[CONAN] Question - Metal Ore Needed To Make A Sword?

Just was watching Modern Marvels on the history channel. Hematite ore is up to 65% iron. That's incredible. fascinating: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hematite Hematite near water forms bog iron. Full circle, baby.

[CONAN] Question - Metal Ore Needed To Make A Sword?

The concept of hauling ore (basically 99% rock by weight) is ludicrous. It makes much more sense to mine the ore and smelt the ore and then sell the iron ingots to the Cimmerians for their cattle, sheep, etc. The concept of their being a roman-road to transport said ore cart from nordheim over...

    [Conan] Kudos

Glad to have you join the forum. Feel free to ask any questions. S4 is kinda the rules maven. I'm less as much, but we get a kick out of the game as well!

Using what you've got. That's what the Cimmerians do.

All iron is very brittle. That's why steel was invented, so it could flex and spring. Iron fire pokers will snap. Steel pokers will bend. Bog iron is truly bad-ass it wont rust! If it rusted it would never be pelletized.

There is no such thing as bog ore. the bog bacteria make it into bog iron. you actually will find iron in the bog that you can start working with on an anvil.

[CONAN] Question - Metal Ore Needed To Make A Sword?

Reread the second article. there is another way besides bog-iron, hence my comment about red clay. As for it being low-quality there is no demonstrable proof that it is (unless you are just saying that it is by your own fiat decree). A modern 1600AD iron works did nothing but make quality from...

[CONAN] Question: Attacking Mounted vs. On Foot

I really like your idea on your second post. Also the fundamental laws of physics are disregarded for projectile weapons when riding. If you are charging towards someone and you toss a javelin at them, that Javelin is going to hit 30mph more than it would have been lofted by a stationary...

[CONAN] Question - Metal Ore Needed To Make A Sword?

Mining, Shmining. Do what the vikings did and use Bog Iron. The best iron available since it will not rust and it is a renewable natural resource. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bog_iron for a great article on viking smithing with bog iron check this out...

[CONAN] Simple, Malleable Foot Chase Rules

Chase, shmase. My guys see the servant they are throwing, slinging, archery-ing, and crossbowing-ing everything they got if they knew how detailed and math-intensive that chase is. Seriously, I TOTALLY COMMEND you on your ability to do that chase sequence, remeber the rules and have a pretty...
