I need a little help determining how monthly life support costs are calculated. Let's imagine the following scenario for a ship:
10X Single Occupancy State Rooms
1X Double Occupany State Room
6 Crew and no passengers
No Low Berths
Page 145 has a chart where it says the cost for a stateroom...
The Gauss, in particular, gets AP 5, so it's actually much more effective against Combat Armor, unless I'm mistaken in terms of how AP works. Generally, I think it's cool that a broadsword is still a pretty effective weapon in combat.
I'm leaning towards going back to the weights from the 1st edition rulebook. Those seemed a little more forgiving, while still forcing characters with low or average Str + End to make strategic choices about what they carry around. And they didn't unduly burden people for carrying around melee...
