OGL Ancients & the Gates of Troy

    Anyone seen the revised edition??

    OGL Ancients weapons

I'll take a stab at this... note that when I write "Greek" I mean classical Greek, not Bronze Age Myceneans, for instance. Dagger - both Mace, stone headed - Egyptian Sickle - both, I think Club - both Flail - Egyptian Mace, bronze headed - Egyptian Shortspear (Short Thrusting Spear) - both...

    OGL Ancients - online material?

Unfortunately I'm guessing at this point that everyone at Mongoose is too busy, and/or OGL Ancients did not sell well enough, to merit the work to set this material up as a nice looking PDF. :( Which I can understand, but honestly, I personally would be happy with just a text file...!

    Macedonia campaign setting???

You won't be able to find much information on Macedonia before Philip II anyhow. The Greek historians didn't pay too much attention to them before that time.

OGL Ancients - what miniatures do you use?

They're probably making them for historical wargames, since hopites did fight with spears (and swords as a backup) but that is it. I'm afraid I don't know what companies to suggest personally, but this is a good web site for miniatures info (this URL is to the ancients section of the site)...

OGL Ancients creature list now online

    Great work, Shadowdragon!! :)

    Are there OGL Ancients fansites?

Well, I don't have any mechanical stuff, but I've typed up a couple of pages about mythic Greek adventures. Basically there are some different campaign ideas and I've pointed out a couple of common elements in Greek myths for your adventures. I've just put this up as a PDF at...

    Kiln Publications Website Now LIVE!

It's definitely much better! About 100k rather than 600. I have a fast connection but I could tell the difference.

    Kiln Publications Website Now LIVE!

If I can make a piece of hopefully constructive criticism, you are using a couple of really LARGE graphic logos shrunk to size on your website. The problem with that is that people still have to download the entire large graphic file. If you made smaller versions of the graphics and used...

    what's a greek urn? not a lot if he's a noble

Well, no, because I don't really know who is who, except that Adrian Bott wrote the book. :) OGL Ancients was the first book that I bought from Mongoose.

    what's a greek urn? not a lot if he's a noble

There isn't one in the book, so far as I know. MAYBE it was in the material that Mongoose cut from the book. I've pretty much lost faith that that material will be released as a PDF. :(

A nifty resource for the Trojan War

I hadn't thought of it, but for anyone wanting to run a Trojan War-era game, The World of Odysseus, by Michael Finley, is probably the perfect resource for the game. It's not a very big or expensive book ($10 US) on Amazon, but it describes numerous aspects of the society of the poems that...

A nifty story bit for OGL Ancients (Egyptian, specifically)

I went shopping at a used bookstore yesterday, to finish up a gift certificate I got last Christmas. I ended up buying a book on ancient Egyptian culture, plus 2 of the 3 small volumes called "Ancient Egyptian Literature" by Miriam Lichtheim. They contain translations of inscriptions, stories...

    what's a greek urn? not a lot if he's a noble

In the Roman period, yes. I think in the Greek heydey - say in Athens - metics (resident foreigners) tended to be the ones dealing in finance. Agriculture was THE respectable source of income... there's a story related to a coup in Athens and the appropriation of property(?) belonging to a...

    what's a greek urn? not a lot if he's a noble

Well, to each their own. Counting money certainly comes up in the D&D game I'm playing in. But the other game is a superhero game, in which money is just not the focus of the game at all. Note the rules in OGL Ancients for using cash to determine reputation level in mythic games. "The...
