    Crew Duties

Issue: The CREW DUTIES list on p. 154 misses several important crew duties that could have a use in Space Combat. Reference: (NEWTRV_IPDATE_27.OCT) P. 154 lists the following crew: - Pilot - Captain - Engineer - Sensor Operator - Turret Gunner - Bay Gunner - Marine - Passenger But what about...

    I need more power/speed!

Issue: Engineer skill examples and the Space Combat Actions for Engineers a do not align. Reference (All from NEWTRAV_UPDATE_27.OCT) p. 64 CHAPTER TWO: SKILLS AND TASKS - Engineer - Specialties - M-Drive - "Overcharging a Thruster Plate to Increase a Ship's Agility: Difficult (10+) Engineer...

    Go Ahead and JUMP!

Issue: There are three rules for how an Engineer makes a Jump; they all don't align. References (All from NEWTRAV_UPDATE_27.OCT): p. 65 Chapter Two: SKILLS AND TASKS - Engineer - SPECIALTIES - J-Drive: "Making a Jump: Routine (6+) Engineer (J-drive) check (1Dx10 minutes, INT)" p. 148 Chapter...

    Dogfighting

I don't think the original question was answered...nor do I think it was it fully understood. I think the OP is asking, "When dogfighting, a ship gets 60x the number of combat actions; does this make sense?" In my opinion, the shift from a 6-minute Space Combat Round to a 6-second Dogfight...

    Modifiers and Range

Nowhere in my pdf does the word "operational" even exist so I don't see where the operational range concept is derived from. Spacecraft Weapons on p.157 which states "they cannot attack targets beyond their listed Range Band" seems pretty explicit to me. Taken together with the various weapon...

    A Minor Peeve re PDFs

Better yet, once the final version comes out have multiple formats like PDFs for notebook users and ePub for tablets.

    Difficulty, Boon/Bane, and DMs

Yes, for the reasons Shawn has given, and if the use can be clearly defined. I now see that DM+2 is different from Boon. The possible results of DM+2 is 4-14. With a Core Mechanic that depends on Effect this is significant. For an Average check it means the range of Effect is -4 to +6. [There...

    Difficulty, Boon/Bane, and DMs

The more I consider it, I see Boon/Bane having four uses; three very specific and one more nebulous. 1. When changing Timeframes (p. 60) 2. When there are no relevant DMs to describe the exterior effect (requires an reinterpretation of p. 61) 3. When determining Initiative in Ambushes (p. 70)...

    Difficulty, Boon/Bane, and DMs

If you look at Shawn's chart at http://shawndriscollrpg.blogspot.com/2012/10/an-alternate-die-roll-for-traveller.html then Boon/Bane seems to be not much different than a DM+2/DM-2. "Boon" appears 21 times in the rules. "Bane" appears 38 times. There are literally hundreds of DMs in the rules...
