The Great Rift - Travellers' Comments Welcomed!

I'm going to jump in and say, nothing, please don't. I say this mainly because I really don't want to have to buy a revised product. But if I was forced to offer suggestions... What I'm always looking for in a sourcebooks are the little ideas. I'm talking about more scenario seeds, NPCs...

    State of the Mongoose 2024

If you do ever make plans to talk to SJG.... *cough* TranshumanSpacewithTravellerrules *cough* ...that would be great. Regards, Robin

    State of the Mongoose 2023

I don't think there's much chance of this, but I'd love to see Transhuman Space done under the Traveller ruleset. Geopolitically it's massively out of date now, but hey, alternative timelines and all that. Regards, Robin

    State of the Mongoose 2023

Seems fair! Don't get me wrong, a friend of mine and I both read your State of the Mongoose last year, and we both agreed the HQ and its arrangements for staff sounded excellent, a great place to work. Regards, Robin

    State of the Mongoose 2023

Do all your writers have to move to Swindon, though, or is that primarily for people involved in other aspects of the business? Regards, Robin

    Flatlined/Death Station

Thanks for that, it's appreciated. One of the reasons I'm (over-)thinking through the details is that one of my players is very methodical and tries to learn everything he can. I ran a Call of Cthulhu scenario that's supposed to be a one- maybe two-session game, but it took us five sessions...

    Flatlined/Death Station

The bridge hatch certainly makes sense. As written, it's the main source of water, explained by the buckling. The airlock is closed and unpowered, so my presumption was this wasn't an option for the crew, even before it was underwater. It was my first choice for PC exit, until I reread and...

    Flatlined/Death Station

So, still not managed to get the group together, for various reasons. Meanwhile, I've been lazily prepping and a couple of things in the Flatlined scenario have awoken my inner pedant. Nothing that can't be changed or worked around, but if they're crossing my mind I expect my details-focused...

    Flatlined/Death Station

Getting closer to the point where I might actually get to run something - availability of the players every week is not guaranteed. As mentioned at the start of this thread, the plan is to run Flatlined and Death Station, with a view to nudging the players towards Drinax. I don't, of course...

    Traveller 2300 in "regular" Traveller

Thanks - yeah, the TfFL seems a logical book. I was also wondering about the vehicles book. I know Traveller has its own vehicles book, but I imagine that's going to get and update too at some point, so I'm holding off, Regards, Robin

    Traveller 2300 in "regular" Traveller

I'm glad I searched, because I was about to ask the same question. Someone over on rpg.net was asking about how to set up satellite systems for communication and weather analysis on a low-tech world. Matthew mentioned a 2300 book that had something useful. This got me thinking about other uses...

    Long-distance Transports

Yeah, the time factor was what original got me thinking about this. Regards, Robin

    Long-distance Transports

I was originally imagining small trading companies (i.e. a ship and crew) relocating to pastures news. But yeah, modular cutters, too Regards, Robin

    Long-distance Transports

One possibility is that a route is already well-served for conventional cargo shipping and this serves a different market (though whether or not it's viable is another matter). As for the disappointed systems, perhaps the ship's requirements, its crew, and its passengers all represent other...

    Long-distance Transports

Oh, I agree. Once the games are in our hands, they're ours. That said, working within a defined set of parameters can be an interesting exercise. I'm just imagining what amounts to a flying space city, a ship without a mission, just a journey, and what might spill out of that storywise...
