Couldn't you just put them somewhere that she couldn't find them? Shut them in a closet in your room, or place them on top of a shelf that she can't reach? That way you wont have to purposefully damage the books that you're paying so much money for. Just a thought.

This is almost exactly my take on this.

I allow Scholar PCs and I allow DB as written. It's never been much of a problem. Plus, I like the Scholar Class and the type of Dark magics they can get into. :) The Scholar PCs that I currently have playing usually move to the back if combat is happening, letting the burly types take over...

I've used a slightly altered Gelid Abomination (Scrolls of Skelos) in an adventure. That's a Lovecraftian-type critter in my opinion (and I made it even more so. Most of the adventurers failed their "Terror of the Unknown" roll against it :D ). Reptile
