A purely character generation SRD would be pointless for an SF game. An alien generation system is a bit silly, but only IMO because I don't like rubber-suit aliens.
Some kind of starship and world generation systems are essential for a useful SF SRD, otherwise why not just use the RQ SRD...

Seriously, though, the question on all of our gearminds is, "will there be rules for creating stuff?" - i.e. planets, vehicles, starships ...
While I have a strong anti-medieval-hackney bias, I will play in almost any other period or locality of pseudo-history or SF. Except steampunk, maybe. I quite like fiction of that sort, but I just can't take it seriously in a game.
What was the design decision behind choosing a medieval rather than ancient setting? Just a personal preference, but I always felt more at home with 'ancient' civilisations in fantasy settings. It seems easier (to me) to slot fantastic elements such as monters and magic into the many and varied...
What will the mix of history and fantasy be? Will the setting be mainly historically accurate, with the addition of magic and monsters? Or will there be some element of alternate reality as in the old Avalon Hill setting, where cultures from different eras were mixed and matched?
Maybe a lack of nudity on RPG covers is what's holding the industry back these days - FHM seems to be selling well by comparison. Got to move with the times ... :twisted:
Whatever the intent, it cannot be denied that the obscure and misleading wording of the licence has caused a great number of owners of extremely high quality fan sites to close them down rather than face the (highly overestimated, IMO) risk of prosecution.
