And yet MGT has released more than a dozen books for Traveller so far and while they have been content to revise Combat Armor to require no skill, nothing has been mentioned regarding Battle Dress and Vacc Suit skill.
Again, in the RAW, these two are separate skills and wearing a vacc suit...
Star Marine... In the rules as written, Battle Dress does not equal Vacc Suit. And the Ref enforced that (another issue). So the character had Zero-G combat-3 and no vacc suit. A bit of common sense during the writing of the game would have fixed that issue.
There is no such thing as a one player mutiny. The fact that your players felt the need to spend a game year ramping up their skills, shows that there’s a big disconnect between what players want from their character, and what you and Mongoose think is acceptable.
For all this talk of how...
So you need a game system that does that for you?
The last character I made (using TW2013 - a system MGT could learn a lot from in the play-testing and editing department) is a competent military Special Forces medic, who has PTSD, suicidal tendencies; he's an alcoholic (in Afghanistan...
And yet you seem to be the person speculating about another man's 'equipment' size on an Internet message board... I think thou doth protest too much...

Basically, it makes most PCs become subpar-sophonts adventuring in a universe of actually competent people.

Basically, if they were to...
Is it just me, or do the NPCs that Mongoose Provides in various aventures and modules seem hyper optimized compared to the ash and trash PCs that character generation seems to produce?
About half the time I play, I'd actually perfer to take a NPC set of stats and skills than roll on some of...
If you can't reliably get smart missiles or nukes, then Triple Beam on offence, Two Sand and a Pulse for defence (before high guard). Put your best guner in the beam turret and punish anyone who attacks.
For Mongoose High Guard, use 2 beam, and 1 pulse in the main turret and two sand and 1...
In for a penny, in for a pound I say. But hey, if you can keep a straight face while telling players, who are roleplaying thier week in ‘jump space’, that battle dress is what goes too far, then rock on...
