    Bland covers. Why?

I voted for the classic black. With Traveller it works for me. Now don't get me wrong, I like art and I like it in color and on glossy paper and I'm happy to pay extra for the pleasure of looking at it; but art is the garnish on the dish, not the entree. There's just so much meat and potatoes...

Let's just call it "Traveller", shall we?

 For a thread concerning the dropping of all branding adjectives immediately prior to any instance of the word "Traveller" in the name of unity, we sure seem to be spending plenty of quality time speculating about the perceived value of the various demographic groups within our community...

Let's just call it "Traveller", shall we?

Too many acronyms? Now that's something I can understand, but doesn't this new-fangled internet promote such craziness? The goal is good and I do support Mongoose in their version of Traveller in as far as I buy their material and I'm running a Traveller campaign using their material. :)

Let's just call it "Traveller", shall we?

I find this discussion to be interesting, but... are we really attempting to achieve a consensus on the noun used to describe the game? What real change is achieved beyond being "correct" on these forums? :? I'm not trying to make fun... maybe it's my old brain, but I'm just not getting it...

    Started to read

Well, it's darned near an automatic qualifier now. Edu 5+ isn't a big hurdle, so I doubt many people would cry "broken" if you make it automatic. It does seem odd to me that it's easier for a character to become a Merchant than to become a Citizen. Not odd enough for me to do anything about, but...

    Spinward Marches Manufacturing Defects

Yeah, I've seen that too and thanks for the kind words. It's what I know. I've been in the business for 18 years and binding for eight.

    Spinward Marches Manufacturing Defects

Yeah, I'd send it back for replacement for sure. I think what you've got is a wrong pocket. When they bound it, the individual signatures were put sequentially in a line of hoppers in what is called a collator. During collation sigs are pulled in reverse order and pile on each other one after...

    Favoured format for Traveller books?

E-books are fine, sure, but I also like to have a bound copy as well and I prefer hardcover to softcover. I love the stiff durability of casebound books. Paperback gamebooks in my collection are all too floppy for my tastes. The size of the book is not as important to me, but the 8.5 x 11 format...

What Do You Want From Third-Party Support?

Really I'd like to see any and all of the poll options. Traveller is my new drug of choice and I wouldn't refuse the extra hits. As for other genres, sure. Why not? I'm always in the market for post-apocalyptic materials and I would also be interested in other genres that could add new...

    OK wheres the table.

From what I can tell, the range modifiers are nowhere in the book. However, if I recall correctly, it has been suggested in this forum or the CotI forum that the modifier is a simple -1 per range segment.

    How can pirates work?

This is my take as well. Consistant and believable rather than realistic.

    How can pirates work?

No, not according to the American Heritage Dictionary: pi·ra·cy n. pl. pi·ra·cies 1. a. Robbery committed at sea. b. A similar act of robbery, as the hijacking of an airplane. Change sea and air to space and there we go.

    How can pirates work?

First of all, great thread! I've read it for a bit now and am only now posting because I'm a tad intimidated by it. Subsequently, many experts have already debated this topic at length, but for this non-expert it really comes down to whether or not we want it to work. In my game piracy works...

Variant Character Sheet, Take 1 : Critique Please

I like the shading. It looks good. I'm not so fond of having text in the image area, though. I think it would intrude on any image put there. Maybe the text could be smaller and beneath the box? Taken as a whole I would have to say that the sheet looks really sharp.
