The local fountain of knowledge has it! Personally I like the Lion account better as it gives a better insight into crew life and problems in the battlecruiser squadron which were grimely realised in Jutland.

It is good. The best bit I find is the Memoirs of Jutland written by a Gunnery officer in HMS Lion of events during his time on the ship both prior and after the battle as well as the negagement itself.
Somewhere in the morass that is the internet is a site with the memoirs of the Captain of...
The smaller navies can surely go into S+P. The main book should feature the larger navies at the time which have far more choice in terms of ships at various PLs.
Several US battleships were stationed as part of the Royal Navy Home fleet during WW1 so the US should be included.
Yes Ben they are...
I think that it is an issue which I presume was intended to better seperate out ships into priority levels. This is understandable but does lead to confusion when people say hey wait a min this is wrong.
Unfortunatly many of the ship classes recieved upgrades part way through the war e.g...
I was going more on which navies were larger and had the most dreadnoughts at the time. But you are right there are several navies which saw more action.

I think the ship stats as presented in VaS may be those when the ships were first commissioned. If this is not the case then please correct me. Many larger warships e.g. the Queen Elizabeth class were upgraded throughout their career which in some cases was several decades recieving things like...
I have models of all the battlecruisers for both the Royal Navy and High Seas Fleet that were at Jutland (well all those Brit ones with Beatty anyway).
I think Happy Wanderers idea for the WW1 VaS book would work as there are so many dreadnought designs, many of which are only very slightly...
Thinking about PLs for WW1 there seem 2 schemes of PL (see below, with the ships typical of each PL) which could be used.
1.
Patrol - things like torpedo boats
Skirmish - light and medium cruisers
Raid - armoured and heavy cruisers
Battle - battlecruisers
War - dreadnoughts
"armageddon" - super...
I think that real events form great backstories, better than fiction anyway. Also whilst yes it is fun to occasionally try out some of the more hypothetical ships, I prefer historically accurate fleets (or as near as you can get in VAS) rather than turning up looking at my opponants fleet and...
They made the barrel length longer in the Scharnorst main armament. This as I remember gives the shell more time in the barrel with the rapidally expanding gas pushing it along whilst this gas is contained behind the shell in the barrel. As long as the gas is pushing against the shell inside the...
A good example of how much flooding and damage a ship can potentially take is the case of the Seydlitz (German Battlecruiser) after Jutland. Her she was hit by
1 torpedo
8-15 inch shells
6-13.5 inch shells
8-12 inch shells
Flooding at its worst was 5329 tons causing an 8 degree list to port. If...
