    Lifters: The Other Landing Gear?

Large passenger airliners today can fly their routes without human intervention. Or so I’m told. Ship’s computer can handle floating in winds in the 57th century - if you want it to.

    Travellers Needed! High Guard Updates

My highly simplified example was intended to include ALL life support, not just food. Just spitballing and trying to have some fun as a game nerd.

    Travellers Needed! High Guard Updates

Assuming most ships have basically all areas accessible in a shirtsleeve environment, Life Support should be based on ship tonnage, crew required and expected times away from port. Double that if you include food&beverage in LS. A 200 ton Free Trader working the Jump 1 mains with a crew of four...

Traveller Needs a "What is Charted Space?" Book

This is a great idea for a free trader campaign- yoinked!

Space Combat - Did I miss something?

Love me some ProjectRho. Traveller ships don’t use heat sinks and IIRC none of the stealth options discuss venting or redirecting heat signatures. So IMTU I use Power Plant output as +DM for detection and tracking. None of this “not sure if it’s a space rock or a ship” BS. Doesn’t matter if...

Space Combat - Did I miss something?

My free trader just misjumped but thankfully not catastrophically. We have Basic sensors. I can’t see anything reliably beyond 50,000 km. Maybe a blip, but I know nothing about it. But I can see stars that are light-years away?…. And triangulate my position?…. Yep, sensor rules definitely...

    Traveller 5E

Feats or Skill Levels? Proficiency Bonus or Characteristic DMs? Unified XP costs to level up or player-chosen Terms? I think this is definitely going to be 5e D&D in Third Imperium spaaaace….

Reaction when your not the target

Yeah, and I would say the PC’s Initiative score resets to that new position in the cadence. I know dynamic Initiative is not a thing in Mongoose but we use it all the time and it makes combat a lot more interesting IMO.

Reaction when your not the target

To the OP, a Dodge reaction could work, putting that PC in the line of fire but giving their DEX DM as negative modifier on the attacker’s to hit roll against the target (and probably the PC as well). The PC could also Dive for Cover, tackling or obscuring the intended target, which is a flat...

How to make Traveller more popular with TTRPG players

This is very easy to do. Every career Event, connection, etc, is given a place on the map, a relevant company, person, etc. Whether it’s Travellermap, or a home brew setting. Granted, a line in the rules suggesting such would be a great add.

    Adventure-Class Ships

Ok so I don’t really get the tonnage breakpoints either and quite frankly I don’t like the kludge of certain high tonnages being immune to Crits, getting addl Hull, etc. IMTU I am using these breakpoints: 100 - 1,000 tons: Operator Class. These ships are workable with small crews and...

Space Combat - Did I miss something?

It had to have been early-mid Classic Traveller. I remember reading somewhere that a stretched out cotton ball could be used on the table to represent the sand and yeah, same initial vector as the launching ship. IIRC, same time period that pieces of string were suggested as an aid to vector...
