    Why Corsairs?

The Pirate career is still around (it's a specialization of Rogue), but the Corsair does appear to have been made into a niche design that will appear in some supplement. Which I'm a fan of, honestly.

    Why Corsairs?

Not sure why it hasn't been mentioned yet, but the Corsair has been removed from both the Core Rules and High Guard. Mongoose listens! There's a brief mention in the Core Book, p. 240: "Theev’s shipyards are infamous, producing advanced models of corsair and equipping pirate vessels with...

    High Guard is Here!

I've noticed that almost all of the small craft present in the Core Rules have different TLs in High Guard despite being otherwise identical. Should I assume that the High Guard TLs are always correct? (And if so, will the Core Rules PDF be updated with the corrected stat blocks eventually?)...

New Edition of Traveller is Here!

Still waiting for my coupon code... can someone tell me the subject line and/or who it's from, just so I can make sure I never received it? I just did a search for "Traveller" and didn't get any hits for this month.

Entertainer skill table has old Art specialties

I just noticed that the Entertainer career skill table on page 28 still lists the old, pre-revision Art specialties, not the new ones. Also, the Art skill description example tasks on page 62 still list the old specialties.

Specialised Schools and Development of Pro Skills

I've definitely seen pro se prisoners who are better lawyers than a lot of actual defense attorneys. The internet is a magical thing.

    Battle Dress Skill Question

Oh man, you should have put a Trigger Warning on that. I once played in a 7th Sea demo at a game store. Opening scene of the game, we're standing on the deck of a ship. The GM makes all six of us roll easy balance checks. Because, you know, it's a ship. As you might expect given the laws of...

Does STR no longer play a role in melee

I would argue that that's as much the Melee skill as it is DEX. I guess my real question is, do you think a gymnast with 100 hours of training is going to be +2 better with a montante than a powerlifter with 100 hours of training? Because I don't even think that in epee... some of my scariest...

    Battle Dress Skill Question

I agree. I think Skill-2 for TL13 and Skill-1 for TL14 would be a nice compromise. Can we get confirmation from Matt that the Armour benefit is supposed to be Cr10,000/TL12 for one roll and Cr200,000/TL12 for two? That seems off to me, but I could be wrong.

    Agent (Corporate) no Carouse skill?

    Nice suggestion!

    Battle Dress Skill Question

The important thing is for it to be plausible that Battle Dress would become a symbol of the Marines. At Skill 3, it's just not plausible at all. That's too much of an investment. At Skill 2, it's an elite thing even within the Marines. At Skill 1, which is where it was in the last edition, it's...

Does STR no longer play a role in melee

I disagree. When you're using a heavy weapon, Strength matters a lot more than hand-eye coordination in whether you hit. The blade moves faster, and strength is the primary factor in keeping it on target. Even in seemingly finesse-based combat (e.g., epee and saber fencing), a strong person can...

    Advancement and Rank bonuses

I like the current system, since some skills really are necessary at certain early levels (e.g., the Marine tables). It doesn't seem to encourage anyone to avoid any particular career, which would be the only reason to adjust it in my view.

    Science specialty

+1 vote for this. If someone wants to take a more specific skill, there's nothing stopping them. But these four cover the average Traveller campaign pretty well and don't make Science feel like a weak skill in comparison to some of the others.

    Battle Dress Skill Question

I didn't even notice this until now, but it's a huge change. Vacc Suit 3 is a pretty crazy requirement. In the last edition, there was about a 72% chance that a four-term Star Marine would pick up Battle Dress 1 along the way (assuming they have a +0 EDU bonus and rolled service or specialty...
