    Not official, but here are the index cards I made for myself to play the River Plate and Bismarck scenarios: River Plate Sink The Bismarck Cheers, Martyn --

    Tirpitz

    Fearsome indeed! Now all you need to do is build a fjord to hide it in . . . :wink: Seriously, looks good. Cheers, Martyn

    Flights = how many?

    Heh, no, not frustration :) . The only frustration I'm finding is that the original VaS ships were obviously all done to a formula, but the later ships in S&P drifted away from this. Thanks for the offer on the stats, I think I'm good at the moment. Cheers, Martyn

    Flights = how many?

    Ahh, fudge. I had a long reply written to this, but it disappeared when I pressed submit. Never mind, good luck with v2, although reading State of the Mongoose, I do wonder if it'll ever see the light of day. I'll continue to 'correct' ships for v1 to the formulas I've worked out. Cheers, Martyn

    Flights = how many?

    Hmm, interesting. Your crew figures in the couple of examples I've looked at are wildly different from what I've computed. E.g: HMS Audacity - I have a crew figure of 19/6, you have 12/4. USS Wasp - I have 87/29, you have 72/24 What formula are you using to generate the crew figure...

    Flights = how many?

    Aye, thanks for that Matt. I'd worked it out to be 6/flight for bombers (i.e. Swordfish or Dauntless), and was coming up with a figure between 4 and 6 for fighters. Not helped by carriers not always sailing with their full complement of aircraft . . . I'm using the original Victory at Sea...

    Flights = how many?

    Howdo all, Recently re-discovered Victory At Sea, and having some fun. But, being a wargamer, I immediately want ships that aren't in the book. Managed to work out most of the stats, but struggling with the aircraft load for a carrier. So, how many aircraft in real-life equal a flight in V@S...

    Re: Low pricing at DriveThruRPG

    Sadly, I feel that I'm being lied to, and have made my decision to purchase or not accordingly. YMMV. Cheers, Martyn

    Re: Low pricing at DriveThruRPG

    Ha, an update. When I originally queried this, the book was listed at $17.47, with no discount. So, I emailed DriveThruRPG about this, asking if it was intentional that the original Battlefield Evolution was not being included in the discount of all Mongoose products, or had just slipped...

    Re: Low pricing at DriveThruRPG

    Hi, Just wondering why the original Battlefield Evolution is not at a reduced price at DriveThruRPG like all of the others? Link Edit: And why does my signature not showing up on this post? It does on the preview, but not when actually posted? Thanks, Martyn

    Regiment bases discontinued

    As I understand it, GW are scrapping bits orders completely. If it ain't a complete model (or bag of bases), you won't be able to buy it. Cheers, Martyn

    Burger presents... Fleet Designer!

    Well, I for one am very grateful to you. An excellent resource. Though I've noticed a (very, very small) bug. Using the Fleet Designer, I get a '0' in the Special column against the Y Turret an a York-class cruiser. Cheers, Martyn

    The newbie wonders

    Heh, almost :wink:. A mile is actually 1.76" at that scale. Even so, I think the fleets at Midway were at least 150 miles apart, so that means a table size of at least 22 feet. Basically, carriers should not be within gun range of the enemy, otherwise they tend to lead very short lives (HMS...
