    Drow War veterans?

Well, Book III has been out for a year now, and I'm curious: Has any GM run all three books with the same bunch of player-characters? How long did it take in terms of game-hours? Any big surprises? Did the characters feel an appropriate sense of resolution as each installment ended?

Drow Wars: Decanter of Endless Water and other subjects...

After almost a full year of gaming, my group is just about to enter the temple. We're very limited for time, so progress is slow. I'm also gaming with newbies, and when they think to look for magic, they rarely come up with creative uses for it. I've always loved the decanter of...

    Drow War question

Adrian sent me a digital copy of the sewers map. I have distributed it with his permission. As long as it remains OK with him and Mongoose, you can find a link to it through my webpage. http://maddrmark.googlepages.com/home

    Drow Wars map scale

This is a case where it's probably best for ships to travel at "speed of plot." If the PCs are low in level relative to their next challenges, a few 'random' encounters might spice up the journey. Otherwise, I think an "After an uneventful journey..." from the GM (save the salient plot points...

Drow war : world of player

The actual start of the campaign requires even less creativity on the part of the GM than "you all meet in a bar". For spoiler action, check out the summary of my first game session at http://maddrmark.blogspot.com/2006/03/first-session.html

Drow war : world of player

I think you lose a few things if you make the characters "outsiders". For starters, when the time comes to save the world, our heroes will not really have a personal stake in the conflict. Characters who are not unambiguously good and altruistic might be tempted to wash their hands of the...

Drow war : world of player

Depending on what nations the characters choose to be from, their backgrounds may play zero role in the game (such as Elves from Shallenoi), or they may wind up adventuring in their homeland (like elves from Xoth Sarendi). It is up to the player and Gm how important their background connections...

    Drow war campaign questions.

Total agreement with both your observations, Jinta. I'm a wizened old GM with 30 years of gaming experience who is running this game with a set of teenagers who are new to the hobby. The campaign appeals to all of us. After a long hiatus, I have begun maintaining our campaign website(s)...

    Drow War I: Saragost map

I invented one in Campaign Cartographer, based on my own impressions, which you're free to use. http://maddrmark.blogspot.com/2006/06/saragost.html Click to enlarge...

    Drow War Signature Weapons

I think I would just rule by GM fiat that signature weapons are indestructable. They are, after all, an extension of the heroes who use them. Or perhaps they can be 'resurrected' in the same way that characters can.

    The Drow Wars (Requirements)

It is my rendition of the song "New Orleans" from the Simpson's faux musical: "Streetcar!" The city, lacking a sense of humor about the sordid side of the city, threatened to sue the producers for defamation until they offered a public apology. I suspect that they would chuckle even less in...

    The Drow Wars (Requirements)

I pad experience when I need to with story and RP awards. I also use XP rewards for players who make outstanding contributions to the game outside of game sessions (I mean write-ups of adventures and the like, not overt bribery, but I'm open-minded about that). My group meets for very short...

    The Drow Wars (Campaign Prep)

Heh. I'm running the game with four novice players, and I naturally assumed that at least ONE of them would want to play a ranger. There's always a rookie who wants to be Aragorn, Drizzst, or some other fictional bad-rump. Of course, players have a way of foiling GM's expectations. And of...
