    Yanks in Space...

Be upset if you must. Others are not responsible for what may or may not upset you. But why would anyone here intend it in any derogatory sense? But even if they did, just ignore and move on. Life is too short.

What's the range of starship missiles?

It's a RPG. None of the rules make sense if you poke too deeply.

Ignore this post. I figured it out and I am mentally slow today. lol

Oh, I enjoyed the edited post title.

Questioning common wisdom: Traveller isn't about combat.

Not about much, is it :p. A wonder they manage to fill all those books.

    Are Traveller ships too big?

I think one reason they are too big is that under its 1970s vision of the future they need so much space for fuel. Always struck me as a bit odd how huge areas of a ship's floor plans is labelled as "fuel", often entire decks. Feels very 'NASA' and not the Far Future, But it's Traveller...

Does anyone have or know a repository of .png files for Traveller for use on Roll20.com as Tokens and Maps?

I have used this for counters for various Traveller situations. Brilliant website. https://zhodani.space/traveller-starship-counter-generator/ Many of these are also based on Traveller ships or as close as you need at that scale. https://zhodani.space/the-other-starship-counter-generator

    Ship vs vehicle cost

Well, comms with just typed words is always prone to misunderstandings. One of the joys of modern life, eh. :)

    Ship vs vehicle cost

Have you heard of the slippery slope fallacy? I said what matters are those details that are relevant to the running of the game. You have an unnecessarily argumentative tone on this forum.

    Ship vs vehicle cost

Yes, but in the case of RPGs, how does the extra detail offered impact the players? If it generates fluff, then we can do that without formulae. I do think Traveller risks being rules-heavy at times, but mostly in the supplements. The books on robot and world construction are fine works, but in...

    SPACE COMBAT - Sand Caster

Yes, my players tend to opt for "avoidance shields" once they realise the costs involved in repairing. I am not too sure, but it feels easier to hit in 2e, with numerous positive modifiers from crew, software, etc

    SPACE COMBAT - Sand Caster

"Sand" in 3D high-speed combat is simply ridiculous, no matter how you spin it. Should've have been ditched with 2e, IMO!

Updated Vehicle Handbook in the works

Simplify whatever you can. It is a RPG. The more detailed you get, the more you open yourself up to errors and criticism like "x doesn't work like this" (like anyone knows how stuff works in the future).

    Ship vs vehicle cost

It is an RPG, not a manufacturing simulation. What does it matter if the costs for ships do not align precisely in proportion with the cost of cutlery, or hamster cages.

Rail lines on high TL worlds?

One needs gravity for anti-grav trains. Normal trains don't. Not every community in every country has the funds, know-how, or need of the latest whatever. For example, I have not seen many shinkansen (bullet trains) go past my window out here in the sticks, just choo-choo trains.
