    Armour

Conan was also superhumanly strong (or nearly so ;)), and Howard loved poetic license.

    Useful Figures?

Reaper. I love the sheer range of characters they offer. Not all of their Dark Heavens minis are appropriate for Conan games, but many are.

    Armour

Cut your gambeson properly, and it's not very restrictive. I concur with the above posters: If you're wearing maille, you're wearing a gambeson under it ;)

Blinding with a cape, then sneak attacking

Fighting with a cloak in your off-hand is more difficult than people think. I'd make it an EWP, but with serious benefits. For one, I'd allow proficient users to use it as a buckler (wrapping the cloak around one's arm), and I would allow it to provide a +2 or +4 equipment bonus to Bluff...

    The Picts

I tend to think Howard portrayed the Picts as evil, what with all their dark spirit worship, bloody sacrifices, and tortures. But he also noted that they were provoked by the Aquilonian land-grab, so I suppose it evens out. After all, despite his racial hatred of the Picts, Conan at least saw...

    Review - Across Thunder River

At least it wasn't truly stupid stuff like "SPELLB.OOK" this time. It was simply poor grammatical construction. Still, it's far from good.

Maybe I'm just blind, but where's the typo on the back cover?

    Official Conan Miniatures

Precisely. The 'pure-blooded Hyborians', i.e. the Gundermen, were the closest thing to Saxons. Tawny hair and grey eyes, excellent pikemen/infantry, it all fits ;)

    Review - Across Thunder River

For the record, I'm allowed to mock West Virginians because I was born and raised there. Not all of us are illiterate sheep-botherers, just the ones in the backwoods of Wetzel county ;)

    Official Conan Miniatures

True, but Howard did model the Cimmerians on the primitive Scots, and we all know about the Scots' preference for lower-body garments.

    Review - Across Thunder River

I picked up AtTR the other day, and I've been looking through it. This is the initial impression I got: The Good: 1. Chris Quilliams. This guy is one of the best artists in gaming today. Do NOT let this guy go! He captures Conan almost as well as the greats of old. Plus, the various...

    bow AP question

That's what I've been doing. If you have a bow that's built for increased Strength, you can add up to that maximum number to AP provided you have the Str for it. So, if you have a Bossonian longbow (AP 5*) rated for a Str 18 character (+4) and your Str just happens to be 18, then the bow has...

    Tougher Swords

The basket hilts generally weren't very sturdy or pointy, i.e. they gave a little when hitting someone. Plus, it provides much more surface area to spread the impact, rather than a pommel or point of a quillion.

    Power Play!

Hey, it's a big desert, and the vultures gotta eat too!

    Sieges, are not nice

The Picts do sometimes try human wave attacks. Howard mentions this in Beyond the Black River, but Conan mentions that this tactic leads to the Picts "getting the guts shot out of them." However, if enough Picts were to be assembled under a particularly powerful and charismatic leader, then...
