I wouldn't think it would affect mechanics... Depending on how much bigger. It'll be easier for you and your opponent to get into melee and may make it harder to hide behind certain terrain but I don't think it's against the rules

Sov block 2 also had tanks. A better troop type would be a Sov 2 doctor that would have a campaign ability to turn any captured enemy unit into a Sov 2 Judge.
