    That takes me waaaay back. It worked well, each dot you pass through is basically a -DM from the trained skill. Some of the build/repairs felt like they needed more dots, like that vehicle skills had, but it did the job effectively.

    That was what my Ship's Cat suggestion was about, they are conscious and sentient after all, RAW. Added to my ship now, just in case something happens to the crew. The cat always survives, I saw it in a documentary called Alien. What I am deciding is if 1Cr a day is a fair salary.

    Not for checking the Astro, that is the first requirement, taking time, Astro 2 and Int 9+ makes that roll is 5+ without anyone checking it. The second requirement is having a sentient mind on the ship during jump to reduce the chance of misjump.

    Just a different flavour of scifi. Having a ship you talk to can be more engaging for some people than having some robots walking or floating around the ship. The same preference could be part of the profile of different cultures within your universe too.

    The RHB has a ship's brain interface sized for the whole ship, plus haptic required to use DEX skills, and non-interfaced brains that can still get information from the ship's systems/sensors but use drones or avatars to act. First issue is mine, the next two trying to preempt my players...

    Good point about accounting for the weight/bulk, so 10% tonnage and another 0.2MCr/ton, that would be 0.225MCr/ton which is a bit disproportionate compared to the shielding cost.
