    Is RuneQuest Broken? Here's Why...

I think the characteristic rolls were tossed aside, because many playable races had characteristics with associated characteristic rolls exceeding 100%. That being said, the solution begins characters too weak for my tastes.

    We're playtesting.

MRQ review in Roolipelaaja (Roleplayer) magazine, Finland

Outstanding point (both of you), especially for those of us who have left Glorantha long ago, and wanted a newer, revised, RQ3 format.

MRQ review in Roolipelaaja (Roleplayer) magazine, Finland

Actually I think d20 was the final outcome of TSR's original anymosity vs. companies that attempted to make products that could fit in with D&D. When Judges Guild stuff stopped being applicable to AD&D Second Edition, the idea that players were encapsulated within a single game system really...

MRQ review in Roolipelaaja (Roleplayer) magazine, Finland

Those are relatively new innovations, but not necessarily good ones. I remember how little I use to reference the RQ3 rules, except to be inspired by an image or clever paragraph. Lately, I've seen books that had lists of these little character quirks, but what invariably happened to me, was...

MRQ review in Roolipelaaja (Roleplayer) magazine, Finland

I'm very surprised that MRQ get's that high of a value for production. I don't care for the large margins, grey borders, and pencil drawings. I would have prefered less images of pen & ink quality, no borders, smaller margins, and slightly denser text. Granted my criticism bleeds into...

    Suggestion for weapon damages

Absolutely not. RQ is not hard-core simulationism. It definitely has simulationist aspects, but it was still willing to leave a lot of room for relativism. That would be a sucker's bet. Neither. I am only stating that one cannot evaluate whether weapon damage is wonky until they see the...

    Suggestion for weapon damages

I know that MRQ is based off of previous editions of RuneQest, but still, it is its own beast. How much discussion can one have about houserules for a game that isn't even at the store yet? Just being curious.

    4th preview is up

You know I was just going to post that maybe those abilities at the end of the preview might be a taste of what one can expect in Runequest Companion. (or whichever supplement deals with incredibly powerful characters)

Let's just leave it as, "Setting specific mechanics," before anyone gets hurt, ok?

    4th preview is up

I'm totally cool with fatigue systems. They're always options, IMO, as mechanics such as these rarely appear in monster/NPC stat-blocks, and when they appear in adventures, it's usually as an illustrative example of the mechanics and rarely as a scenario challenge. What I don't like are those...

    Magic Systems in Glorantha

I think this is not quite correct. Battlemagic was essentially generic. You could be a Humakti, Zorak Zorani, or Gbaji cultist and have access to healing magic for example. In RQ3, some cults expressly forbid the learning of certain spells. (Yelmalio couldn't learn darkness spells, IIRC)...

    Magic in Lankhmar

I'd guess that all spells are rituals. Few spells are castable in combat, and not without a terrible price. I recall the TSR Lanhkmar. While they did not do anything innovative (like offer spell lists other than thoses in the 1E Player's Handbook), they did modify the casting time for all...

    Preview is out

RQ3 - Special Successes (Or criticals) with impaling weapons impaled. There was a chance, that the weapon would get stuck in the opponent, and combatant would have to take an action in subsequent rounds to remove the weapon.

Core Rulesbook - starting with Rune Magic?

Speculating purely on page count, I suspect the cult information will be similar (man I hope!) to RQ2 - presenting only Orlanth and Kyger Litor. However, I'm guess that the magic rules will have enough information to either directly map your Humakti's magic or find it's new equivalent.
