What is the Deal with GMing Traveller?

Look at the scenarios available in the Signs & Portents mags on this site. I started my sons with The Rescue in S&P55. A shuttle crashes into a reactor on an airless moon, threatening the lives of the people living in the domed city now lacking power and life support. This short adventure...

    Anti-glorantha rant to moongose.

I see that people may not want to make their own worlds but "the publisher's job"? That's similar to the situation with music these days - most people have become consumers of other people's music encouraged by businesses keen to sell us product. Gone are most of the pianos or fiddles in the...

    Solomon Kane (the movie)

Saw it at the movies here in england. Not great cinema, certainly not LotR or Seven Samurai but not as bad as many say. Maybe I'm not a perfectionist but it was a good adventure movie with as many S&S tropes as they could fit in. The acting was generally good, well filmed, effects were ok (oh...

    Pictures of new Conan

It did get a brief, minimal release in Britain; e.g. in the whole of the Newcastle area for one week on one screen at one time! Still I got to see it with my boys - generally good fun with no opportunity missed to throw in a S&S trope. Maybe not great cinema but a good S&S adventure movie...

Why doesn't anyone play D20 Glorantha?

Incidently for those interested, the web version of the Pendragon Pass rules are still available on David Dunham's page. Cheers Dave

Why doesn't anyone play D20 Glorantha?

Have you seen LES HEROS DE GLORANTHA - Idées hérétiques pour jouer dans Glorantha avec DnD 3ème édition (D20 System), a french language adaptation of D&D3e. Don't know how it plays though. Cheers Dave

Why doesn't anyone play D20 Glorantha?

To answer the question fairly, someone somewhere probably has along with many other systems used to run Glorantha. The original RQ rules were commissioned for Glorantha roleplaying as an alternative to D&D - losing levels, class restrictions and cumulative hit points and adding skills training...

    Nordheim Adventure Inspiration?

Just finished re-reading the original novel Michael Crichton's Eaters of the Dead. Written from the arab ambassador's point of view as a first-person account of his experiences, it has a different feel than the movie but has even more detail of viking life. Recommended! Cheers Dave

    Nordheim Adventure Inspiration?

GURPS Vikings has a ton of useful background material on both historical and more fantastic versions of viking life. $10 from Warehouse23 Good stuff Dave

    It's a crime!

I started this campaign last spring. Not liking railroading and having dire experiences playing in campaigns where the GM used capture to try and push the story along (which brought one Earthdawn game to a crashing halt and nearly scuppered a previous RQ) I opted simply to generate new...

    Inspirational Films

Can I second Musa: the Warrior here. Not your average martial arts superhero movie but much much more in the gritty style of 13th Warrior. There's a trailer online at http://www.madman.com.au/actions/trailer.do?method=view&videogramId=1345 Also Kurosawa's masterpiece Seven Samurai. Still one of...

    Opinions wanted

CoC is a simpler version of RQ using HP without hit location, introducing an Education attribute, Sanity (for the horror genre) and a modern skill set. It is faster to play but less detailed than RQ, but so compatible that you can plug in/rip out almost any facet of BRP based rules with little...

    Opinions wanted

I take it you have seen all the Cthulhu Rising material at http://www.ragingtrifle.com/cthulhu_rising/index.php With that and the basic CoC rulebook (or just about any other version of BRP) there's really more than enough material to run a campaign. The monograph adds more but I reckon it's not...
