How long to activate the Jump Drive?

This is a ridiculous amount of time. It can take an hour? Most stories I've seen or read never took that long, usually it's fairly quick unless there's some drama to be had. The longest I've seen was in the recent Battlestar Galactica series with the episode "33" where it took 33 minutes to...

I don't have a problem with the tabs. It's the splashes of orange as background to text on many pages I find garish. I didn't like the art style of the updated book, the orange just added to it. I don't buy every book just to support the game, that's a good waste of cash buying things I don't...

High Guard Update 2022 - News

I got the updated Core Book and... shuddered at the overuse of orange. The pages looked garish. Since I barely had opened the book, I put it back on my store's shelf. It did sell within a few days, remarkable for how much D&D rules my local area. I hope the Highguard book does not have such...

High Guard Update 2022 - News

One of the things that bothered me is that the old CT ships had an agility factor and forego armor to get it. Since then any system not using agility made those ship way more vulnerable then they were supposed to be. Armoring those up would be good. But I do miss the armor vs agility choices.

I was about the mention this same thing. Since I always have a bowling alley option in any ship design spreadsheet I write: Traveller, Full Thrust, Starmada...

Implausibility of technological research and lack of progress

This would also apply to hover/grav vehicles: tires & rubber. Are we still filling the world with used tires?

Implausibility of technological research and lack of progress

For flying cars automated driving has to be greatly improved upon first. Do you want these yahoos on the road today who have a hard time with 2D navigation to start navigating in 3D? :D More seriously, at least on the ground multi-ton vehicular killing machines are a bit more restricted.

Implausibility of technological research and lack of progress

For the life of a character, tech growth isn't much in the Imperium. (unlike 19th-20th century Terrans) For a campaign of Pocket Empires that may have times of peace, it could matter. We had this problem back in the Trillion Credit Squadron days (before T4's Pocket Empires, or even T4) when we...

for fun: name some movies in the 52nd century

sshhh.. that's my next campaign. ;) Oh, I combined the jump drive horror stories into a series: The Jump Zone - a series of movies over the decades with a robotic host, Zed Stiirlaan, involving the horrors around jump space. "The Collapsing Bubble" frightened many people from travelling the...

Ah, yes, the user interface. I had forgotten that somewhat, I was thinking of the voice activated devices people are putting in homes and car these days. THESE DAYS, the time is now as in TL 7-8 days, not 3000 years from now. Of course, our fingers and eyes are still going to be about the same...

[yeah, yeah, I'm on a roll; or more likely my brain is in high gear for a change (I hate getting old)] Where's my high tech anti-grav slippers that automatically fly onto my feet as soon as I put them out from under the covers in some pre-defined way? Where's the auto-pen that transcribes my...

Can we make high tech be actually high tech, and not just a number? For instance, the personal computer has the same mass for many TLs: 0.5 kg. That's over an imperial pound. By TL 12 one would think a PC might be the size of a charm on a bracelet or some piercing jewelry (nose, earring...

I'd prefer a thicker book with more stuff. I don't haul my JTAS around. I'm not one to use PDFs, but even searching through a multitude of them is tedious. Many "high" tech (9+) ranged weapons could use more TL lines.

I like. I hope you pronounce this properly with your group. I won't be. So, Aslan porn?
