Pirates of Drinax - GMs thread

True! Something tells me they were drawing heavily from Flash Gordon for this: Flying city. Check. Hawk wings on the royal guard. Check. Big, fat, bombastic king. Check. Attractive, yet lethal princess. Check. :)

Am I the only one who channels Brian Blessed when running the King? So much fun!

Pirates of Drinax - GMs thread

Just starting the Drinax campaign as my 2nd Traveller campaign (after Islands in the Rift). I've got what might be a dumb question. :) In the annexes there are lists of planets along with their starting disposition and three numbers in a column called "Policy" (IIRC). How do I read these 3...

    Computer Software for Astrogation

Thanks for the info! I'm glad to hear my characters aren't S.O.L. right from the start. Do you just purchase a computer program with a set skill in Astrogation? Is that what Expert software is?

    Ship is destroyed, now what?

I strongly disagree. A universe with no-win situations is very fun. The Ref should adjudicate the world in a manner that maintains the verisimilitude of the universe. A consistent universe is better than a universe that always has a trap door for the characters. Sometimes, everyone dies. If...

    Computer Software for Astrogation

About to run my first Traveller game. :) I've got a group of Travellers about to take on "Islands in the Rift". However, none of them have Astrogation as a skill. Can they buy a computer program to do Astrogation for them?

Restrictions of the Federation "G-Rack" in ACTA.

That's how I read it, alansa. Using a G-Rack for ADD means you acquire the ADD trait. Traits are not lost when under the restrictions of Power Drain.

    Several questions

Thanks for all the answers, all. Just wanted to check on what my options were. I was a huge ACTA:B5 fan. So those Scout rules don't seem unfamiliar to me. Have also been an SFB fan for 25 years. Would be curious to see how lent ECM/ECCM would be reflected in a fast paced game like ACTA...

    Several questions

So are we intended to pay for a fix to the Scout rules? Or is that fix available in isolated form for download somewhere?

    Paint club

Looks great! I especially like the windows on the boom and the choice of red for the impulse engine.

    Imperial Occupation Zone: Two AARs

It's an interesting flip, having the Federation be the ones to maneuver with subtlety while the Klingons can be much more direct. Totally the opposite of SFB. I'll keep all this advice in mind next time Requete is across the table. Thanks!

    Imperial Occupation Zone: Two AARs

I agree that the Federation in the second battle was 'positionally deficient' after the APTE order. He dashed forward rather than try to isolate the closer half of your fleet. It's a tough tactical puzzle for the Feds. You don't want to get in too close too fast due to maneuver inferiority. But...

    Imperial Occupation Zone: Two AARs

I was his opponent in the first battle. And I was completely unprepared for how maneuverable agile cruisers are! It's hard to photon an enemy that refuses to stay in your forward arc. This picture is from the second battle. The Feds have just used APTE to close with the Klingons. Next turn...

    SA: Close Blast Doors

You are diverting crew from their normal duty stations to damage control stations, closing bulkheads, and generally battening the hatches. Thus you have fewer people manning the weapons/engines/etc. while this is being done - impairing their normal operation.
