I agree with your second sentence regarding the existing MGT HG 2022 update rules, which have a flawed and broken fleet combat system.
However, if you've ever played through PoD I think you'd agree there is a place for squadron/fleet combat rules even for mainstream RPG-focused Traveller...
I would support an Imperial Squadrons equivalent so that the big fleet actions at the later stages of PoD could be resolved a bit better than the bare-bones combat resolution system currently included in the campaign material.
I would support a World Tamers Handbook/Pocket Empires equivalent as...
The opposite argument could be made - they're only auxiliary and thus don't have to be powerful so a few grav modules will do the job.
The point is I guess we're left to our own interpretation as there is no explanation in the book.
I'd like to see some citations on that. There is a big difference between lock-on-after-launch (which has been in missiles such as the Maverick for decades and is what I think the Ukr drones are doing) and what you appear to be suggesting.
No doubt the technology may evolve to allow fully...
I think you are better off using an anti-tank missile against any armoured vehicle - regardless of whether it is flying or not. At least the AT missile has an AP rating to subtract from the defender's armour. The AA missiles in MGT seem intended only for use against unarmoured flying vehicles.
Sorry - I and the OP were talking about the Core rulebook 2022 update.
As you'll see when you look at that chart, the hits that give that result aren't on the hull. So it was a bit confusing why/how the hull is involved.
Anyway, the new critical hits rules in VHB '26 clear all this up.
So, when playing, how did you interpret the instruction on the critical hit table on page 141 for "Hull Severity increased by +1"?
What does this refer to?
On the Speed Band table on page 18 the distance per round is not clearly defined. Is it meters?
Why are auxiliary grav drives or auxiliary lifters only available at TL10, when normal grav is available at TL8 according to page 30?
LBB3 1977:
The great thing about LBB '77 was that there was none of this "circa 1980-89" nonsense. Tech Indexes (also called Tech Levels) were derived from technology breakthroughs achieved. So, you weren't TL8 until you'd mastered gravitics and fusion.
