Just finished and each of the group members wrote a short follow up as to what their characters would do going forward.
One created/found their own pocket universe and cut themselves off from the Universe.
One spent his money being a playboy and eventually undertook a series of high profile bank...
Amongst the grogs I know Pirates of Drinax is rated as one of the best sandbox campaigns ever published. I'm 3 years in and still have much play left (to be honest I've only used half the actual adventures, much has been stuff I've made up).
Secrets of the Ancients is a very different campaign...
There were points in SoTA where I effectively had to be HAL 9000. Luckily the players were cool about it.
Also there were large sections of background/surrounding Information that were interesting to read but there was no way you could introduce the PCs to it without huge chunks of exposition...
Pretty much this.
I used to avoid psionic PCs in my games but in the two campaigns I run there have been psionic PCs (one player request, one a plot device). It has not been a problem in either game - as noted, it's not as powerful as it looks at first blush.
To be fair, my reading of Oleb is that if you give him money he's generally happy so that scans.
He does want more influence in the sector but that was never going to happen with piracy anyway so commerce is an excellent idea.
Agreed, my group haven't pirated anything since the beginning. Lots of corporate intrigue, politics, exploration etc.
Their biggest problem is they have been undermining the machinations of a big Corp and an Aslan clan - both of who are out to get them.
I promised a complete newbie a Traveller campaign as she had never played before, but as I have a Pirates campaign running concurrently I wanted something I could pick up and run. Now the group don't want to stop even when Secrets is finished and they're actually quite invested in the Ancients...
I asked in another thread and apparently any outcome from Secrets can work with Wrath but let's see. In the meantime I'm hacking up Tripwire as a filler whilst waiting for publication.
There are some real cul de sacs in the adventure as well. "Either the players do this or the adventure is over", it's very frustrating. I've already decided that I won't be running Wrath of the Ancients until I've had chance to smooth it out.
I'm quickly coming to the end of Secrets of the Ancients and wondered how Wrath of the Ancients meshes with the end point?
No spoilers but there are three main outcomes at the end of Secrets and I will be taking the group into Wrath when it is published. Are any and all of the outcomes at the...
Definitely. My group have been diplomats, spies, disaster relief workers, humanitarian aid providers. Huge amounts of opportunities for anything that a group wants.
I've been running Traveller since 1981 (with a deep freeze for kids and life in between 1992-2006) and this campaign is the best I...
