    Goodbye Mongoose!

Seconding what Black Cat and everyone else has said. And until recently I did not appreciate that this forum went back to the days just before the first d20 RPG was released, so sad to see that much history go!

    Grand Masters adventuring with others

Funny you should mention this... I had an advanced Epic Knight class for the old system for the Knight of the Realm, focusing on the Knight looking to complete quests at key points for three 'trials' to become an ultimate paragon. It might be an interesting shift if the knight character is the...

Another look at armour- Negative ENDURANCE

It's as much an edge case as the other way, but you could put the armour on after losing 1 - 3EP, take it off again and effectively heal that EP. Unless you never gain current EP from wearing armour, in which case you'd need to heal above your previous max to gain any benefit from it, which...

Another look at armour- Negative ENDURANCE

It seems easier to just say that normally you don't take armour off - epic storytelling beats realism where knights can sleep in their armour (LW never had to strip a chainmail waistcoat off to sleep each night either). I think JD had not consdiered this metagame possibility, and armour was...

Evil Character classes - which ones next?

Villains for the released suppliments seems the best idea - either the Stornlands for the Stornlands, or the Darklanders (of which three classes are being or have been tested)

    How do you handle Crafting?

Magical items are rare in Magnamund, so there is a reason they are rare. As the GM, you just need to figure out that reason yourself really. I don't think a crafting system nees to have a rule to govern it and make them artificaially rare by resource management. Personally I think for magnamund...

    How do you handle Crafting?

Regarding Laumspur, I don't believe it is a magical plant, it is just a good healing agent and grows everywhere on Magnamund (though I don't think it's everf said it can grow anywhere, so not necessarily in every back garden). Also, I think thinking narratively about what it is doing is also one...

    How do you handle Crafting?

Magic is supposed to be scarce, so if you are expanding that then a few thigns happen. a) every NPC will start having access to that too. b) The PCs might find that its expensive to gain items, even if they are directly involved with the infrastructure that manufactures it c) A large resource...

    How do you handle Crafting?

You can handle narrative and game balance by having the forge, etc be controlled by a higher level NPC teacher. And of course if there's a forge governed by the class/race of the character, then there are demands on the PC. It's not a case of 'how much stuff can he get' it's a case of 'what does...

    Armor as healing?

I add the armour bonus to both. If you don't use up all the new EP before removing the armour, then you lose the balance of the EP. Otherwise, you only lose the maximum EP (and current EP) if it is above your max. Putting on and off armour to heal is a metagame weirdness that is easy to rule...

    Character Traits Idea

The trouble with any trait having only a narrative effect is that it makes more work for the GM to arbitrate, and as you've just said a clever person can leverage it in to a strength - so getting a double bonus.

    Running a play-by-post game

I sort of follow the game, but am busy right now in a few. Any time you guys have mentioned a need for new players I've posted reminders around the RPoL games, but sadly many people seem busy too, and basically just able to manage the games they are playing / running :(

    Character Traits Idea

I must admit I like having weaknesses in a character that mean something more than RP flavour that gets ignored (as a player), however D&D is bad for not having a positive spin on that personality/physical trait, just a punitive one. You could perhaps make the weaknesses have both a positve...

    Character Traits Idea

In the D&D variant where you select weaknesses for more feats, the weaknesses were far worse numerically than the equivalent feats, because you were likely to pick weaknesses that affected areas you wouldn't use much anyway so there was not really an even trade off. The LW system has less areas...

Willpower, Kai Monks, and Psychic Abilities...
