From what I can remember most of the defenses where centred around the cities and the rural areas were left to burn.
There were some Drakkarim masquerading as Sommlending soldiers and civilians.
Zargarna was leading the main force against Holmgard whilst Vonotar was handling the job at Toran...
Well Magnamund is set in a medievel world so comparing life expectancies with the poorer countries in the world probably isn't too far off.
Now I think about it, doesn't the Core book tell you how long everyone lives? (If someone has already said that then sorry for not paying attention).
When I first saw Mindshield I thought "This is only going to be much good against other Kai Lords". I'm glad it's turned out to still be quite useful.
To be honest I'm not too worried about the Kai Lords being able to dish out willpower fueled kickings. My concern is more about PC balance...
If we're speculating for the sake of it then it's possible I suppose that any Darklords that were killed early on were replaced with new ones by Naar. I suppose it adds a survival of the fittest element to them. This way Naar isn't resurrecting Darklords that have already proved their...
I suppose you can mock your players as well by showing them the books and saying "This is what would happen if the heroes had been competent" because you know players, they'll mess it up somehow.
Without having a copy of the book to hand wouldn't taking the Buccaneer class and substituting out some of the more nautical abilities for more urban/sneaky abilities fit the bill for a rogue class?
I think Ulnar IV IS the king in FftD. The gazetteer section of the core rules for LW suffers in this regard because the game was initially to be set in 5050, and when they made the decision to set the campaign in MS 5000, they forgot to change the names of the rulers.
The appendices at the end...
Well I never; I didn't know that. In Fire on the Water I was always too busy getting crushed by masts, killed by Priests or mauled by Helghasts to have time to get fancy with my Crystal Star Pendant.
I always assumed people died younger because the standard of medical care was non-existant and hence things we see as inconvenient would be life threatening on Magnamund, so 70 year olds would be fairly rare.
Even today there are countries where the Life expectancy isn't much above 50.
I've just started my characters at Level 3. It makes them just tough enough to deal with a wider range of enemies without spoiling them by giving them too much too quickly. Based on the titles of the levels for each character Lvl 5 would probably be okay. I suppose it depends on how tough you...
Yes, the Platinum amulet was just really handy, unlike the Crystal Star Pendant which gives you the amazing ability to recognise Banedon when you meet him in book 5: so glad I detoured North East to save him from the Giaks for that essential Special item.
These are quite inventive suggestions; the only problem is after a while the Kai Lord in the party is going to feel a bit picked on when he starts finding most of his opponents have psychic defenses. Isn't the fact we're having to come up with them at all a sign that the psionics are...
