Ill second Apocalypto, but some of it could be black kingdoms as well.
Im not going so far as to suggest He-man, but star metal was cool idea so ill use that one day. (cant forget that skeletor vs beastman video, its tainted them forever.)
I used a DB for the first time ever in my game this last weekend, an NPC scholar/soldier was being attacked by 6 mounted knights when he pulled it out.
I thought a fireball effect was a bit silly for someone who knew no fire related magic in any way so I calculated the standard damage, halved it...
Ill second on the 2-4 player count, with one character each. Too many people means the less talkative players tend to do next to nothing except participate in combat, its sometimes an issue in my game at least where we usually have about 3-7 players.
Thats an idea I hadn't considered, that kind of flexibility would be pretty handy for wayward slayers. (which is why they wont be getting it  )
I'm thinking ill allow the players to create a spell effect (out of game), have it statted out before the game and then require them to learn...
Do you guys stick to the spells outlined in the books or invent your own?
Busting out spells seen in the Conan stories is great fun, but they are pretty limited in scope. It makes sense that Thoth Amon or any of the other big name sorcerers would know many more secrets than they made use of...
The Conan movie soundtrack by Basil is awesome, also alot of stuff from Hammerfall, Blind guardian and Manowar... alot of 80's metal works.
May the blood upon your steel never dry!
Ruins of Hyboria that good huh? aint picked it up yet.
I reckon Across Thunder River was really good, even for games that aren't set in pictland, Scrolls of Skelos is only for high level magical stuff really, does have some cool spells you could base a game or two on but worth getting later...
At 1st - 2nd lvl I would use the base demon stats from the AE book and level it from there, maybe 1 for 1 but probably 1 for 2, I would like to think that it would be more powerful than the scholar character anyway.
I'm basing the end of my campaign on a demon lord sick of his people being used...
Ive been planning on using the riddle of steel in a couple of adventures for a while, but instead of the resolution being a concept like Thulsa Dooms theory, I would have it as the secrets of forging a fine atlantean steel (something similar to Akbitanan) hidden deep in mt. Crom where...
Yeah I love the spells in Conan, I always felt you should be able to get a general idea of how powerful a combat spell is by its name - seeing something called Terrible Crushing Death and then finding out it does 1d4+1 bludgeoning damage is not cool, whereas Agonizing Doom both sound and is...
