UWP's are the product of an RNG. They often don't make a lot of sense.
This can be fun explaining why a world which apparently makes no sense exists. It can also be a problem when you are creating a campaign and want to use some part of the OTU for the game for whatever reasons but then find...
I went with Princess Aura (Ming's daughter) from the 1980 Flash Gordon film to keep a theme, then I revealed that one of my PC's an ex fighter pilot had been given the call sign 'Flash' he took it well
BRIAN BLESSED as Voltan from Flash Gordon is the only answer. All speaking must be done at a near shout.
His daughter is best cast as Ming's daughter from the same film, always scheming
I beleive the authors notes say that Drinax is a cross between Voltan's floating city and Constantinople in...
I think that something like the 1000D limit is needed to prevent relatavistic bombardment of worlds by any nutter who can buy a starship. But it does make deep space refuelling more challanging to fit into stories , its ok if they have an anchor of some sort but without that its an issue.
I agree with you on the Florians they are a great power but Isolationist so they have little or no influence beyond being a valuable trade partner and having a big enough fleet so no one will cross them.
Interestingly none of the nearby Aslan High tech and High population worlds have Type A...
Vorito had apparently before the accident a TL-15 type A starport capable of manufactuing megafreighters and escorts (therefore probably capital ships as well but GeDeCo could not under imperial law as an imperial megacorp operate them). It is supposed to have that capacity back in 1111. The...
An issue with that Plan is Vorito, GeDeCo control it and given its population and technology it is by far the most powerful and important world in the reach so they are already very visible as a threat to the Aslan or anyone else. At the same time Aslan Great Clans will have big enough tech...
A good point. I considered that GeDeCo may want to make its corporate currency availble for worlds and trader's as it gives them a greater degree of control over those who use the currency , GeDeCo can control the supply of Ge-dollars to manipulate the economy of a world and if traders have a...
I assume most planets with anything above a minimal population have their own currency but for trading purposes use the Imperial credit. I had a plot point featuring it when players stole a ship carrying lots of hard currency then had to find a broker who had the time to move the cash to planets...
My impression is that the Palace is in atmosphere because :-
1) The King can go Hurricane boxing
2) In the final battle it mentions the palace rising into Orbit as a suprise combat maneuver and that doing so is fatal for the palace
A Broadsword I think should be able to land with antigrav and...
My PC's will aquire battledress for their marines on the Harrier soon, fairly early in the campaign. There is no sensible way to stop them , as they need to have enough money to buy or refit starships and battledress is chump change in comparison. They already have combat armour so unless...
Having read both Master and Commander as well as a biography of Admiral Cochrane, I did not bother reading any further books in that series as the first was basically Admiral Cochrane's early carreer with the name changed. I prefer authors to write honest biographies or fiction not mislabled...
Useful research may be the Hornblower books or other 18th/19th century sailing navy books as after the invention of the Telegram and Radio you never get the same cut off from higher command as in Traveller.
Particularly if going with small ships I would avoid the 5th Frontier war and instead go...
Not something I have tried , this game
https://www.fiddleback.me/transit
Is based around the concept although in it's settings the ships are AI's . So you may be able to get some ideas from it
I also do not believe the resources of any Solar system are going to be mined out. Further I suspect the amount of Tantalum found in asteroid far exceeds that you are going to be able to dig out or any dirtball gravwell. Further the population of earth in 2300 AD is based on current trends going...
