I agree. The authors are too close to the work...after having read and re-written everything numerous times it becomes impossible to read with a fresh pair of eyes.

I'm of a similiar mind to Akrasia...I will buy MRQII books but not until I've read some feedback and reviews in order to gauge how bad the typos and errata are. This is a shame as there are so many good books coming out but proofreading and quality control seem to be something Mongoose is...

Personally, I'd like to see more Dark Age Europe and Pre-Roman Celtic Europe books. I would especially like to see Pre-Roman Invasion Britain and Post-Roman Invasion Britain books.

Glowing praise, indeed. Okay...I've ordered it. I can live with a typo or two...it's just with Mongoose's track record I thought the typo would be symptomatic of further errors. I'm glad this isn't the case as this is, by far, the RQII book I've been most excited about.

Any news on whether the typo has been fixed as it's due out next week?

Perhaps Mongoose should do an RQ starter set....everything beginning players and GMs need in a box: pre-gens, beginning player and GM books, a starter encounter leading to a starter adventure and everything written with a complete newbie to RPGs in mind. Something not unlike the new D&D Red Box...

I'll just chime in to say that I personally like the system as well as the setting. It is the combination of the two that drew me to DW in the fist place so I'd be sad to see the system ditched. If it is to be ditched then my vote would go to Runequest II which retains a certain 'old school'...

Typos are one thing...although, personally, they drive me around the bend...but mistakes that need an errata or clarification are quite another.

I'm not sure about the short-term business implications but certainly in the long-term a better quality product can only help sales. A few companies have gone down this route recently...in fact, Cubicle 7 (who are close to Mongoose, I believe) have done this with Victoriana, Starblazer...

As an occasional proofreader for WFRP3e I know it's a long, slow and complex process but the quality of the end product really depends on how much time, care and money is spent on the editing...how many passes the book is given and by how many proofreaders (fresh pairs of eyes!) and how good...

I don't think there is any way to be constructive with criticism about poor editing other than to point it out and say I would rather Mongoose took a bit more time and care with it. As hanszurcher says...why rush to release the book? Why not release the pdf before sending the files to the...

I also agree this is a serious issue. I mentioned in another thread (Typo in RQ Vikings) that I too will only buy Mongoose stuff after it comes out and I've had a chance to see some reviews. In fact, because of past experience I stopped buying books from Mongoose a year or so ago...but RQII...
