Players Guide and the "HYboria's" series
In other threads I've read that the Players Guide has plenty of new material.
However, since its general focus seems to be the refinement of PCs, it looks to me that there is some overlap with the focus of the "Hyboria's finest, etc." series.
What I want to know is whether some old material of the Hyboria's series willl appear or not in the Players Guide.
Thank you in advance.

really?
Are the H series books still relevant after 2e? I don't have them yet, and I was kinda hopin' that the best rules from them would be integrated into the new 2e books. I love your stuff Vincent, but there is only so much I can afford.
Are the H series books really compatible with 2e?

For all his dark ferocity, Booya has a very happy soul, he revels in his feedom and displays a child-like glee of simple pleasures. He may rip out your liver and eat it before you dying eyes if you cross him, but a he enjoys a happy birdsong.

The cultural material still applies, the feats still work, the combat manoevres still function, the multi-class options still work as described (the soldier multi-classes require the addition of the new class ability, and a few tweaks here and there, but all-in-all, they work still), and the new Borderer combat styles still work fine.
I took nothing substantial from them for the Player's Guide (I may have updated or corrected a feat or two, but I don't particularly remember if I did or not from the F series).
Most of the negative comments I get on this board stem from the use of reprints to make the product stand alone as much as possible, so I don't use them anymore, even if I think the reprint is appropriate.
The Player's Guide is NOT a revised F series in any shape or form. I think players will be happy to have the Player's Guide and the F series books on their shelves. 2E didn't change so drastically that anything would be wholly invalidated.
(on a personal note, I would like to see a collector's edition of the F series, all combined into a massive hardcover (and given a 2E make-over for a few minor points, such as the soldier multi-classes), but that may just be me. Some of my players use the F series books more than they do the core book.)

I'd definitely be interested in buying that.VincentDarlage wrote: (on a personal note, I would like to see a collector's edition of the F series, all combined into a massive hardcover (and given a 2E make-over for a few minor points, such as the soldier multi-classes), but that may just be me. Yes. Actually, I wrote it without having seen 2nd Edition (it was still in process), if that tells you anything. It will work just fine with Atlantean edition materials. Some of the material were things I had written for 1st edition (such as the Zamboulan character race), but never got printed.shouit wrote:Can you use the Player's Guide without buying into 2nd edition?

Well, I've seen the galley for the Player's Guide, so November doesn't seem too far-fetched. It just needs correcting here and there, then we can start rolling them off the printers.
