“They hit her and when she got up, they hit her again. Then an Indon officer working with the Thais shot her in the stomach. In God’s honest truth, she got up again and stood between them and the injured Brits and villagers. I could not hear what she said with the kids screaming but the Indon officer raised his pistol again and you could see the hate, he was going to kill her. Then the Australian SAS arrived and I cannot remember much after that. She survived though, through the grace of God Siobhain Milligan survived.”

Re: [GK Games] News and Reviews
This is an excerpt from Ships of Clement Sector 15: Milligan-class Hospital Ship. Written by Wendy Watts and Michael Johnson, this excerpt describes an important organization within the Clement Sector setting. Logo by Bradley Warnes.
The Lady of the Lamp Society
The Lady of the Lamp Society was formed in 2056 by a group of nurses from the United States and Canada after it was determined that the usual international aid organizations were incapable of handling the disasters and wars of the period on their own. These nurses banded together to provide medical assistance wherever it was needed.
In the early years of the organization, they were mainly active in the United States, The Southern Alliance, California, Canada, Mexico, and the nation of Cascadia. As the organization grew and gained assistance from major corporations, the coverage expanded to become system-wide by the early 22nd century.
When mankind went to the stars, The Lady of the Lamp Society went along as well to provide assistance. On many worlds in Earth Sector and later in Clement Sector, The Lady of the Lamp Society was able to save lives during times of conflict, natural and man-made disasters, and outbreaks of disease.
The Lady of the Lamp Society has offices in Hub, Franklin, Cascadia, and Sequoyah subsectors. They have recently expanded into Peel and Dade Subsectors with the intention of having an office in every subsector colonized by humans.
The Lady of The Lamp Society is the only civilian medical organization that operates a fleet of hospital ships and fast response medical ships. Crews for these ships are drawn from highly trained ex merchant and navy spacers. For medical staff, the Society draws on its own nursing personnel, staff and contracted doctors and co-opted staff from Doctors across the Stars. The Society often works with Doctors across the Stars, which provides for much greater resources to draw on when needed.
The lamp is emblazoned on the side of all hospital ships. It has become a symbol of expert care in tough situations and a sign that the angels of mercy have arrived to save the sick, injured, and endangered.
Being only armed with sandcaster turrets and a point defense node array the Milligan-class relies on her ship’s identification beacon to announce her non-combatant, humanitarian role within naval service. Society owned hospital ships use the same beacon identification protocol that the military use with appropriate differences to broadcast operator status. There has not been a recorded attack on any hospital ship in human occupied space since the Sino-Indian conflict of the late 22nd Century.

Re: [GK Games] News and Reviews
It is always fun to hear what people are doing with our products. Here's a fine example which I enjoyed reading.
Our friends at The Rocky Mountain Navy have combined Gypsy Knights Games' Clement Sector setting with Zozer's Star Trader to create an interesting solo Clement Sector game. You can read more about it at the link.
I thought it was really cool.

Re: [GK Games] News and Reviews
Here we see the Jericho, a Milligan-class hospital ship owned by The Lady of the Lamp Society, moving through space. The Jericho was one of two hospital ships which aided the government of Avicenna (Franklin 0704) after a strong hurricane struck the city of Alexis. The ship arrived in support of Doctors Across The Stars and by permission of the Avicennan government.
This is just one of many Milligan-class hospital ships in Clement Sector. The class of ships will be detailed in the upcoming Ships of Clement Sector 15: Milligan-class Hospital Ship which will be available in PDF on August 26.

Is it just me, or does it look very similar to the Boyne?

Ah, thought it looked familiar
So basically the Milligan is/can be viewed as a variant of the Boyne, not unlike the Aranui?
I agree with -Daniel- great color scheme! Does it come in classic white with red details too?

Well, it is a similar design (and that is intentional) but it's not exactly like the Boyne. So not exactly a variant but a different ship with similar design choices.
Indeed, it does come in classic white and red. However, no "red cross" or "red crescent" as you might be used to seeing on modern and historical hospital ships. Instead, most often, you'll get the lamp of the Lady of the Lamp Society.

It is an entirely different ship from the same design bureau. A lot of the RN's (now HFN) support vessels have a similar shape to this.
You can see the differences below.

Hope that assists!

Re: [GK Games] News and Reviews
Very helpful, thank you both!
The multi-view drawing of the red-and-White ship made it clear that they are indeed different ship models, but clearly designed by the same Bureau - and if there was any doubt left Mike's silhouette comparison cleared that up nicely!
Question: When Mike wrote "a lot of the support ships" it kinda implied there are a couple more out there... Any teasers?
(There are, of course, at least one military tanker and a larger supply ship (Victual class, I belive?))
Has the Lady of the Lamp Society replaced the red cross/Crescent in Clement? Will we get lots of nice info on them, and... Nvm, I'll see for myself soon enough
Well, looks like it's time to go dig up some MASH episodes, to capture the field hospital feeling

Re: [GK Games] News and Reviews
Greetings!
A few items of note on a Saturday evening.
1> "Clement Sector: The Rules" is in final playtesting. We're running through a number of things and then it will be off to editing. We have Bradley Warnes working on cover art for the book. Thanks to Michael Johnson for his diligent work on the space combat rules.
2> "Ships of Clement Sector 13-15" has been sent to the printer for approval. This is the second step toward putting this into print. The first step, making a cover, has been completed. Thanks to Ian Stead for the cover art and to Stephanie McAlea for her cover layout. The front cover is attached to this post.
3> "21 Plots Go Forth" has also been sent to the printer for approval. It will hopefully be joining the other "general" 21 Plots book in print soon.
4> "Wendy's Guide to the Fleets of Hub Subsector" is in production.
5> I am currently in the midst of working on two adventures which will hopefully be posted for sale early next year.
So that's where we are on the 10th of September. Hope you're having a good day!

Re: [GK Games] News and Reviews
A bit of an update on the print versions of Ships of Clement Sector 13-15 and 21 Plots Go Forth. The printers have approved the books and the print proof is forthcoming. Usually it takes about a week to get a proof from the printer to GKG HQ.
In addition, the print versions of Ships of Clement Sector 4-6, 7-9, and 10-12 have been submitted to the printers. The approval process usually takes a week or so.
Assuming the proofs meet my approval and everything goes smoothly, these books should be available in print soon!

Re: [GK Games] News and Reviews
21 Plots Go Forth has returned to print!
Coming up with a new adventure can be a challenging process and sometimes a Referee needs a helping hand. Perhaps your campaign isn't quite ready. Maybe the last campaign finished a session or two early. Maybe your players have strayed from the expected path.
We're here to help you!
21 Plots Go Forth is the fourth in our highly successful Plots series. The book presents 21 situations, each with 6 possible outcomes, for science fiction gaming groups equipped with a starship and ready to travel. The book , while geared specifically at our Clement Sector setting, can be used with most science fiction settings.
21 Plots Go Forth also contains an index that can point you to the right adventure for your players not only within this volume but also for our entire line of 21 Plots products.
Like all our products, the main intention of this book is to provide an extra spark to the Referee's imagination.
