Index in printed books.

This is not so much aimed at PDFs (which is all we have so far) as they have search engines and menus and the like, but when you get round to the printed books there is going to be a good index included in each, right?!

T5 was exactly the thing I was thinking of, and we don't want to repeat the same mistakes again. It ought to be noted, however, that the updated T5 on drivethrurpg does now have a good sized index.

You're right. It's easy to forget about indexes when you're working with searchable soft copies, but a book just doesn't work without one. In fact, and index and a table of contents.

And a glossary please?

Not to forget that people are already working on an inspirational books/films/etc list also on the Traveller Playtest boards. Can't remember where the list is, though :)

We would very much like an index in all books - but it looks like we really do not have the room in the Core. Still very likely in subsequent titles though.

Why not include a big index for both the Companion and the Core, inclusive, in the Companion?

You could do this, but I would still offer the PDF for the core as a download. We should not assume everyone will buy all products. I will of course. :D But we should have an index for the core available for anyone who buys it.

I'd also like to suggest something more than a glossary but a section at the end of the rules:

"Things You Have to Understand to Play Properly"

There would a one stop reference point for:
Effect
Boons
etc
So when something comes up, or new players are struggling to get to grips with things, there's a place to flip to.

There's nothing worse than trying to dig through a long book, even with an index which could have multiple references, to find that game critical one liner buried away in some section or another.

There's a lot that could be done to assist the game master, and one of the things you could provide is a free pdf to purchases of deadwood or otherwise.

All of the nice to haves, and almost certainly need as a starter or a game master in a hurry could be put into a freebie pdf that would get a lot plaudits.

Combat examples, build examples, tables showing specific aspects of the game through tech levels e.g. a master set of all sensors and sensor related technology and their interactions so during combat the game master has a handy reference sheet to quickly roll dice.
