Adventure 4: Into the Unknown - Now on Drivethru
We have just posted the latest Traveller adventure, Into the Unknown, on DrivethruRPG.
Into the Unknown casts the players as Exploratory Scouts on board the IISS Spartan Wainwright, a Donosev-class Survey Scout. Their mission is to conduct a Class IVb survey of system N-83-Aleph and confirm an overview of the system obtained from pre-jump assessment phases conducted earlier and survey in detail any potentially inhabitable planets.
While there, they will uncover the descendants of a long-lost crew, survive the flora and fauna of a new world, and contend with a system-wide tragedy...

YANK!
I love the idea of exploration (something not well covered in Traveller) and really look forward to reading this!

Its interesting that you'd do an exploration / survey adventure before publishing detailed world-building rules for those of us who love building star systems. Just saying...

More detailed that the Mongoose Scout book? Something like SPI's Universe?Prime_Evil wrote:Its interesting that you'd do an exploration / survey adventure before publishing detailed world-building rules for those of us who love building star systems. Just saying...

For the record, I liked Universe and still have a copy hanging around. It offered a very distinctive SF setting that unfortunately never got the development it deserved. Although these days the most crunchy world generation rules are probably those in the GURPS 4e Space book.ShawnDriscoll wrote:More detailed that the Mongoose Scout book? The system in the Mongoose Scout book is OK, but there was some talk of something like the World-Tamer's Handbook for Mongoose Traveller. Also, given the vast amount of new information about exoplanets that we've gained in the past decade, it's probably time to look at a revision to the world generation system.

I played this adventure with the author back in TravCon 2012 as a playtest and know it was submitted to Mongoose a few years ago. It was a wonderfully touching game of exploration and discovery. No to little combat, but doing proper Scouting of strange new worlds. Really nice piece or work and system building.

Could you upload a better preview? The current preview is a single page for a couple of grav vehicles. It doesn't give you any idea about the supplement.

Yes the previews are pretty much useless for most of the Mongoose books. I would never buy a book based on a limited preview of one or two pages. If you are going to have an online store at least make sure it provides a suitable way for people to check what they need to buy without relying on assessment via a physical paper copy in a store or whatever. This wasn't too much of a problem before but recently I have noticed our local gaming store doesn't stock Traveller stuff anymore. Lack of a decent preview has certainly stopped me buying Animal Encounters, Compendiums, Dynasty and quite a few other Mongoose books, and some that I bought like Spinward Encounters I would not have if I had been able to do a decent review beforehand which has put me off buying any more.
