Don't get me wrong I'm anal retentive about my books and stuff too. But sometimes you gotta sacrifice a little or you won't have a group to game with.

As long as they don't make it "Scratch and Sniff" we'll be all right. Otherwise, all bets are off.TheAuldGrump wrote:Are you sure you don't mean 'contents of the table'?redlaco wrote:ROTFLMAO !TheAuldGrump wrote:So if some one turned in, oh, The Quintessential Pak'Mara![]()
Just thinking about the table of content makes my stomach turns.
The Auld Grump 'We even stomach pumped the Pak'ma'ra...'
Yummmmm.....Flan! It's really just styrofoam. Tasty styrofoam, like twinkies, but somehow better for you.

That's it, I can't take anymore... I think I'll always put some barf bag at arm's length before consulting these boards from now on. My fragile stomach can't take that much.Dag'Nabbit wrote:As long as they don't make it "Scratch and Sniff" we'll be all right. Otherwise, all bets are off.

I like print books. However when I travel there is no way I can take my print books with me. Whenever I have to travel or one of my players the games come to a crashing halt. With a PDF I could put it on my laptop and still game while I was away from home. So portability is an issue.
I have to say I don't really understand the hatred of PDF's. If a book say the B5 core was only released as a PDF then I could understand it as I do like having a print version of the game myself.
But I would like to see both offered.
One of my friends likes the idea of getting books on Cd. I don't mind that idea either. I bought the White-Wolf cd that had the Core book, players book, sabbat I think and something else as well as a char generator. It was 50.00 I think. I found it very useful as while I owned the print books I took the cd with me when I traveled and still got to play Vampire.
SO I would be willing to buy a B5 cd like that. I would certainly consider buying a game I wasn't planning to like Judge Dredd if it came on a disk.
Just my 2c

I personally like both!
I love to have hard cover books that are correct and do not have mistakes in them. I prefer PDF so that I can quote corrections that need to be made, or softcover books that already have mistakes that cannot be corrected.
I like PDF maps that I can print out for my players. That would be nice as well. Beats bending my books up trying to copy a map for game play.

I too would love to see PDF's.
Mongoose could sell them cheaper than the printed versions and still make more profit.
Don't get me wrong, the hardcopy versions still have their place, mostly round the gaming table, but I don't see the point in spending a fortune, most of which goes to middlemen, for supplements only one player uses and only once in a blue moon.
On the subject of piracy, ICE sell PDF's of all the current Rolemaster stuff, several of which I bought recently.
I've looked good and hard on all sorts of places and found exactly zero copies of the files ICE sell. One or two shoddy scans with no bookmarks and huge file sizes but not a single pirated copy of the much better quality stuff ICE sells openly with no DRM.

I'm picky - I want things both ways
On the one hand, having only a PDF of certain things would be a bit of a pain. As has been mentioned, a hard copy as a tabletop reference is very handy. On the other hand, things such as maps that you could print out would be very handy on disk, as it means you can show a map to players without having to cover up bits of the book. Although I notice that artwork is regarded as Product Identity rather than Open Game Content. Hrm.
Well, if Mongoose were to dish out CDs of things such as maps and handouts with campaigns such as The Fiery Trial along with the book for the purposes of printing, I'd happily spend a little more to get hold of one.
I would, however, be somewhat wary of something published only as a PDF.

What?Michka wrote:Please, please, please, No PDF format books. I can see how they could be less expensive and handy in certain situations, but what about reading on the toilet. For some of us, it's the best time to read.
You don't keep a lap-top in the bathroom!?
