Revenge? Dreadnought? San Martin?
All depends on which Ark Royal you mean. The first one was the flagship of the English fleet which engaged the Spanish Armada (hence the San Martin)...
There have been about five now...

Captain Sheridan you're under arrest for a clear violation of the laws of physics!

Since this is the VaS forum, he probably means the WWII one. The one that launched Swordfish bombers against the Bismark that actually dropped their torpedoes on the Sheffield.

No, they were flying with magnetically fused torpedoes. The fuses (fortunately) malfunctioned and detonated the warhreads on contact with the sea surface. If they hadn't it is likely that "Shiny Sheff" would have been sunk outright (similar weapons, when they worked properly, caused massive damage to the Italian battleships at Taranto, since they sue a different damage mechanism to the conventional "contact" weapons of the day). The failed attack on Sheff highlighted the deficiencies in the fuse and so the second strike that hit Bismarck was made with conventional contact fuses.

LOL, sometimes Wiki does get it right. But I'd never rely on it. Some of the stuff on the Falklands is quite comical, and I've been in a running debate with some bloke from Thailand because he doesn't like my description of the battle of Koh Chang and keeps mucking about with it.
I'm in Bradley Stoke (wife-swapping capital of Europe, if reports are to be believed!)
