Alternate heads?? Nice!!! Don't suppose another has pointy ears?

Feel a little nervous about swapping heads on a 15mm though - they're a bit fiddly...

Pointy-eared heads, check!

It's actually not too bad. As you said - it is a touch fiddly, but not as bad as all that (I've never glued one on upside down by mistake, for example!!).

Just throwing this out there. With ADB releasing a Squad Level infantry boardgame (Star Fleet Marines) if a line of 28mm or even 15mm figures were released. They could do double duty for those of us that want to take SFM into a mini direction. Yeah I am looking at you WH40K!

Not to mention maybe we could get some in scale vehicales and shuttles.

How about facing the back instead of the front? Or maybe that's just Wookies...

The illustrations I've seen of said marines look very unlike the classic star trek uniform - look around for some figures in fatigues with light body armour and greaves. If you do them in 15mm - use the heads from the previously mentioned site. In 28mm, may mave to convert. Shuttles aren't too bad - in 15mm the Furuta Galileo shuttle would work, for 25-28mm check out resin 1/72 shuttles or the Johnny Lightning one. Vehicles might be the biggest problem.

True enough the Marines are armored but other units included include Combat Engineers, Commandos, and Militas which are regular crewman pressed in to service without all the extra gear. Also lets not forget the Target Unit of Civilians. =p

heck why not go another step and make a full minis game ala battlefield Evolution or the original Starship Troopers, a $70.00 boxed set with rules and apr 15-20 federation figures and an equal amount of Klingons, some card/plastic terrain and templates. The amount of potential supplemental support would be amazing, from different types of troops (prime teams/dagger teams, armored marines and vehicles, not to mention shuttles and flyers for air support.) to different armies, such as Romulans, Gorns, Kzinti, and Orions, heck even Modular boards for instillations, or ship sections. I kind of like the name Prime Command thus differentiating it from Prime Directive and Star Fleet Battles, this kind of product would be awesome!!

I'd just like to say that I think 28mm Star Fleet miniatures are a fine idea.

Course, the advantage with going 15mm is that you could make tanks and attack shuttles and fighters and whatnot:-

Star Fleet Marines is perhaps closer to the scale used in games like Epic: Armageddon, in that each unit is a squad (of five human-sized Marines per counter), not an indvidual. (Plus, the game is written for hex maps, so might work better with 6mm minis on a square base capable of fitting on a large enough hex map.)

On the other hand, there has been talk about a future ADB game called KRAG:

Quote:
SVC: KRAG (Klingon Rapid Assault Group) is a separate game that is two or three years away. It is "one man, one counter" and is designed to handle combat inside a starship. I mention it here only in case somebody want to know what KRAG is. I am not accepting submissions, suggestions, or even questions at this point. I have to do SFM (and some other stuff) first.

See, 15mm is about 1/100 scale, so models of fighters and shuttles and tanks could pull double duty as wargaming miniatures and collectors models.

So what do people think of this mod to the classic Phaser Rifle?:-

I've chopped some of the length out of the back end and added a Steyr-Aug style vertical foregrip.
