Funnily enough, at Claudiacon, I was sitting right next to the chap who currently owns Blake's 7. We got chatting about games and licensing...

I don't know if anything will happen, but it could be interesting :)

Wow...I really, really hope that this one pans out.

I'm a huge fan of the original series and have just finished listening to the recent audio version a second time.

And I remember playing a Traveller character loosely based on Vila back in the early 1980s!

I alawys thought that he always got the best quotes in the show:

"I abhor personal violence - especially when I'm the person!"

"I plan to live forever or die trying."

"There's not a lock in the universe that I can't open - if I'm scared enough."

I would love to see a new set of these rules. I actually own a set of the original Blakes 7 rpg rules (I promised a friend I'd buy a set after she co-wrote them!) that were published by Horizon. I think it would make a good setting book for Traveller.

I'd certainly be interested in adding Blake's 7 flavour to Traveller.

But will there be rules for playing a giant murderer so aggressive he needs a cybernetic implant, yet who speaks with an incongruous RADA accent (a voice since borrowed by Matt Berry)?

honestly Traveller always reminded me of Blake's 7 from the get go, at least until I saw firefly, then I could see it as either, so yeah definitely a buy for me.

MGT B7 would need to add in CT-style computer volumes, though ...

I'd say it's a one book deal, with of course the mandatory revised edition with all the errata.. sorry Matt but it has to be said..

But yes, I'd buy that one book in a flash.

The Blake's 7 licence holders have just tweeted they are now in partnership with someone over a new B7 product.
Any chance of it being Mongoose I wonder?

Why not? The audio stuff has been pretty good so far.

Yes, but it's not quite what I hope for when I hear something 'new' is on the horizon.

In the absence of official rules why not create unofficial ships and weapons etc and share on the forum?

I recently got hold of the four seasons of the Blakes 7 tv series, and surprisingly despite the special effects not being on par with what we have today the plots and the acting were on the whole pretty inspiring stuff and very much what I remembered :D

I'm working on some ideas to use MGT as a basis for a homebrew ruleset, but I think it should work reasonably well (at least playable) then work on refining various aspects as it goes along.

Of course if Matthew has someone working on a draft ruleset at the moment and could drop a hint then I could save time and wait to see how it goes

Keep well,
Steven
