Always loved these games, always thought it would be cool to make a TTG out of them. BF Evo has lots of potential for that.

The current BF Evo sounds so much like C&C Generals. However, I grew up on the original and (my favorite) Red Alert series. There's lots lots of carry-over potential with the exisitng BF Evo models. Simple change in color scheme different faction insignia and packaging and you now have models for a new game system. Maybe some can be made by simply adding a new turret to an existing tank model. Add some new models that are specific to those settings and even some rules for accumulating Tyberium and building bases, and using Tyberium to buy reinforcements.

Oooh now there's an idea if you want to go with pre-painted stuff. Sell a Mobile Construction Vehicle model that either converts or is just replaced with a Construction Facility. Then sell base modules in sets to go along with it (power plants, refinery, helipads, SAM sites, etc.).

Well the possibility is that AE Cold War might cover exactly the smae territory. But yeah a C&C game would rock.

Yeah, incorporating game mechanics from the video games would be cool, maybe not as realistic but fun for playability.

I could see areas of the table defined as Tyberium Fields where Harvester Trucks would get to roll each turn to determine how much Tyberium they pick up. Move it back to the Refinery and collect the points to use for reinforcements. The whole reinforcements thing could be for an in-game thing (which may make for a pro-longed game and probably work better on a larger table) or be more workable as a campaign type system where the next game you get to deploy those assets. Of course this could just be a specific scenario, nothing says you have to harvest Tyberium every game.

Engineers, spies and theives would be fun, as they could take control of facilities. Allied Engineer moves into Soviet AAA site, now it is under Allied control and can shoot Soviet aircraft. This could also be done during the game, or abstractly before/after game. Where after a game, Allied player who purchased a Theif, makes a roll. If he succeeds, the opposing player looses all unspent Tyberium Credits on hand. If he fails, he risks loosing the Theif. An Engineer could do the same to a facility, denying it's use to that player, and then selling it for credits for his side.

If Mongoose got the license to do C&C, they could have a standard C&C with GDI and Brotherhood of Nod, then come out with Red Alert with The Allies, Soviet Empire, and Yuri's faction. Could even break up the Allies and Soviets into subfactions with unique specialists (like British having the Sniper, Germans with the Tank Hunter, Cubans with the Terrorist, etc.) Probably even make them all 100% compatible, such that they could all be played against each other competitively. Love to see models of Soviet Shock Troopers, Nod Trikes and Dunebuggies, Allied Jump Troopers. Also come out with personality figures like Tanya ('Shake it Baby!'), Yuri, Virus, and such.

I dunno, that sounds more like a boardgame to me.

I think just using the units as in a normal game would work better.

This is one we have actually given a lot of thought to. If the pre-painteds work out as we believe, watch this space. . .

I'd love to see this game!!

My favourite unit was the NOD stealth tank. Used to play the missions with that unit for hours, drawing them out just so I could use the unit.

Cheers,

Eisho

Good to hear Matt but we need SST;Evo sorted and BF;Evo doing well. Dont downgrade quality to get more out. However if you pull it off then it would sell like anything. I know I would buy tons...(mmm, Kirov....!)

Anyway BF;Evo basicly is C&C Generals....

Plus it doesn't come with the price hike it'd need to cover the licencing costs :)

Exaclty- but I'd keep the C&C name for anything else as those were the really popular ones and the brand would sell.

Agreed.

I'd thing C&C and C&C Red Alert would be much more popular. Anyone already playing BF Evo would be attracted to a C&C titled version. Furthermore, anyone that played the C&C games would certainly be attracted to this.

I think the C&C titles would have some extra 'fun factor' baked into them as there are more units that, although not realistic or practical, have some 'wow that looks like fun' to them.

Could be interesting to see how far you could go with "multi-branding" here.

Use a C&C licence to do additional units/armies for BF Evo so you're only paying a licence fee on those specific units, while using it as a gateway to tempt people into the range as a whole. Then release individual armies based on other licences as well. You pull people in using the licenced stuff and then once you have them hooked you sell them your own non-licenced stuff as well (obviously you can make more money from selling non-licenced products...).

If the licensors object to things being made compatible (such as New Line did with the LotR stuff, which I believe is why GW did LotR as a seperate game and not just a Warhammer addon) you just use the same rules with seperate branding, such as MGP have done with BF Evo and SST Evo - two different product lines but with enough of a shared rules base to make things work together with some tweaking.

You could end up with a ton of "Evo" games that all worked together to allow you to do Modern military vs C&C vs SST vs Alien vs Predator vs BSG vs B5...

Yep, that's what I was thinking of. Has lots of potential there.

That's what I was sort of proposing with the Starship Combat OGL system. Take the ACTA rules, make an OGL system, with ship customizing. Then release books and miniatures for other Mongoose titles that involve spaceships (SST, The Wars, etc.) that use these core rules.
