I don't understand the eyeroll. Did you pre-order it or something?shadowabbot wrote:Yeah, since at least June.

At the speed ADB and Mongoose are progressing on Traveller Prime Directive we are more likely to see the actual invention of Warp Travel before we see release of any actual book.Matt Wilson wrote:I don't understand the eyeroll. Did you pre-order it or something?

Re: Prime Directive Relese Date
Play testing the ship combat. I See...but not sure what that means. is the book finished and they are just play testing it? What I'd really like is a nice solid guess of when the release date might be. This was supposed to have been released 2 years ago but only needed deck plans to complete. It just seems like the pre-production has grind to a halt. I've never seen something take this long.
Re: Prime Directive Relese Date
I'm guessing that a lot of the people involved are actually trying to get the new ACTA:SF published and onto shelves, and PD has taken a back seat. I'm sure it hasn't been forgotten, though - it will be out at some point.
Like you, I've been waiting for this with some impatience!

Well, I'm assuming 'eventually' is as good a solid guess as I'm ever going to get. I've been running my 'Trek' game using FATE rules anyway. Its a shame they lost momentum on it, but my 'guess' is I'll give up on waiting.

Re: Prime Directive Relese Date
I pre-ordered the game two years ago. I can wait two more years I suppose. They don't have the staff necessary to produce games other than Star Fleet Battles stuff (i.e. any RPG). Social network maintenance eats up any RPG development. Too much Facebook, Twitter, and blogging going on over there.
Re: Prime Directive Relese Date
Well, I was hoping Jean might have popped over here to give an update, but no matter. From what I understand (and this is reading between the lines in a big way), most of the stuff is done and the last bit was getting the Traveller ship combat to tie in with the SFU, which scales things very differently. This looks like it might be nearing completion and the final product might not be too far away, in fact I would not be surprised to see a late 2014/early 2015 release date for this bad boy (but don't quote me on that!).
I for one really can't wait for it to arrive - it might well become the definitive SFU Rpg.

Re: Prime Directive Relese Date
Guys, sorry for the quiet.
I have been focused on getting ACTASF proofread, along with the Federation Master Starship Book and a "surprise" Hydran Master Starship Book. I am in contact with Matthew regarding TPD.
I really cannot give you a release date. I wish I could, but my time is not my own. ACTASF people were promised a book and we need to get that out pronto. That means it must be my focus.
I think that people (including me) didn't realize just how much time I was spending working for ADB when I was still employed by the university. After everyone here gave me "just a little piece of my job" and I added in the responsibility of a dog who must be walked frequently (and this is helping me with my own health), I found out that I didn't have as much "free time to work on Traveller PD" as anyone expected. This greatly upsets me.
I will tell you more as I get a firmer grip on things.

Re: Prime Directive Relese Date
It does concern me that apparently there were pre-orders. I know ADB didn't take any, so it must have been through Mongoose. With the change in the contract, you may want to get your money back as ADB will be distributing the books, not Mongoose.

Re: Prime Directive Relese Date
I would ask for my money back. I have NO clue how much the book will cost, but that price seems high.
We don't deal with online stores and have no control over what they post.

Re: Prime Directive Relese Date
Sounds like the left and right hands forgot to shake.
Re: Prime Directive Relese Date
Sounds like there is a distributor out there who is still telling stores/online stores they are going to be handling this item when available - hence it being available to preorder.
Most likely they just didn't read or act upon the update when Mongoose told them otherwise - presuming Mongoose did tell them.
