Re: Free Epic Campaign - The Pirates of Drinax
I plan to start PoD over the Christmas break for a group completely new to Traveller and thought I would start using "the Chamax Plague" on a remote location on Asim to bring the characters to the attention of King Oleb.
Does anyone see that being an issue in the campaign as published or in the adventures to come?
Have fun,

Indeed - Part 4 arrived just before Christmas and we have already started going through it. Should be available a little later this month!

Also, we have just uploaded an revised Intro/Primer - no big changes, just some tweaks and corrections here and there.
Re: Free Epic Campaign - The Pirates of Drinax
Any chance of a quick run-down on changes?
The things I can see:
Deckplan slightly cleaner and higher Res.
Missile turret is now empty on the ship sheet - you're not paying maintenance on the missile and ammo until you get it working again. Not that it actually reduces the cost enough to change the monthly payment, but hey, it's the principle of the thing.
Some reformatting (but no text changes) on the 'sharing out the loot' page and subsequent page
Some reformatting (but no text changes) on the first Referee page.
None of the tables appear different (so you won't accidentally find yourself using a different version to your players).

Understand that I'm not advocating violence.
I'm just saying that it's highly effective and I strongly recommend using it.

My players are forcing Oleb to be a king:
"If you want to be a pirate, act like a pirate... but if you want to be a king, act like a king."
--Commander Sir Richard Archebald, INR
Any word on the next update?

Re: Free Epic Campaign - The Pirates of Drinax
Will be just a week or two.
We have started Drinax for our office campaign now - in the first session the players hit a small trader, boarded it, got into an argument and managed to get away with just two tons of cargo before the police cutter arrived. They fought a sword duel on the hull of their ship with the captain of a liner. Later, they were ambushed by a Gazelle escort as they tried to capture another merchant and decided to go one-on-one with it - the result was a retreating Gazelle and some very expensive repairs to the Harrier (now named the Spartan).
All in one session!
Haven't even touched the scenarios yet!

Very nice. Thanks. I like the Metropolis reference.

Re: Free Epic Campaign - The Pirates of Drinax
I actually like how the author conveys the sense of how dizzying and confusing ultra-tech environments can be. A distinct sense of Alvin Toffleresque Third Wave Future Shock. Very cool.JRoss wrote:Very nice. Thanks. I like the Metropolis reference.
