Actually the Twilight Railway HAD no sub-plots. It was just "trade, hear rumors, end up at Fulacin" If at least they had provided a second world with a useful yard but no.

In my view this is also true for the adventures that were actually cam-
paigns.

Leviathan was about exploration and trade, but the characters did not
own the ship and there was no mortgage. Nomads of the World Ocean
was about an environment and its inhabitants, and money remained ve-
ry far in the background. If my Adobe Reader search program can be
trusted, Uragyad"n of the Seven Pillars does not even have the words
"credit" and "money" anywhere in its text.

So, yes, a money based economy should be in the background, and the
characters should have an income and be able to use it - if the players
want this. But the idea that a Traveller game could be about money does
seem very strange to me.

Always be suspicious of someone who says their home world is a Utopia.

If you're a Star Fleet guy and you know you'll be heading dirt side on some non Federation planet, you just replicate some local currency before you beam down. :P
And I thought the Ferengi had a bad reputation :D
Tends to ruin the concept of money and bankrupt anyone not on the Gold pressed Latinum standard though. One of the things about star trek I always found funny, replicators and Holodecks, humanity is extinct
That or the Ferengi would take them over. Good point about the Holodeck and Replicator though; most people would hook them up and never leave the Holodeck. (I know I wouldn't. )

Well, you rarely see more than a dozen people in any scene of Star Trek.
Now guess where all the others are ... 8)

Clearly why there was always a crowd in the corridors of the Kirk era, not that they had bigger crews, just no holodecks. The tech in Startrek and the way it was used never ever made sense. There is no way for you to die in sickbay apart from having your entire head destroyed as replicators and transports can fix anything.
Liek not having seat belts on the bridge seats, just made no sense :D
Traveller: Nonsense, those rumours about me and crashes, no truth in them at all. I never had a landing I didn't walk away from!

ACTA-SF: Who are we, GORN. What do we want, Cruisers that can turn.... Wait, OK Escorts... Wait. I'll get back to you !

And here I thought that they were all in the Engine room. Making ... "repairs." My mistake, obviously.

David Drake calls that stuff "Slash." And it isn't the fanfiction type - it's better!
