Goat's Crowning As King of Ireland In Doubt

I came across this while doing my wake-up routine and thought it would be a great Adventure Seed.

Traveller-
The PCs are approached by the Master of Ceremonies for this year's First Landing Celebration to transport a Herbivore/Grazer from the Homeworld where it will be crowned Colony Administrator on the Colony. The Herbivore/Grazer cannot be placed in a low berth for the trip because of the outside chance it may die in transit, so a cabin must be used as a makeshift pen for the critter being shipped.

Unbeknownst to the crew is that two of the sentient passengers who have come aboard for the same trip to the Colony mean to kill the Herbivore/Grazer. One is a separatist who wishes to discredit the Homeworld and push the Colony towards independance. The other is a member of an human rights organization (that is the polar opposite of PETA in outlook) who wants this barbaric ritual that objectifies critters for political reasons to stop. Both enemies wish to kill the Herbivore/Grazer in a way that cannot be traced back to them (preferably by framing the PCs crewing the ship) and both enemies do not know of each others presence aboard ship (so they may be working against each other and the PCs).

Oh, and did I mention that the critter is obnoxious, odiferous, and has a tendency to eat the linens in the cabin or anywhere else onboard ship?

My Dad's Irish, and he's sober and solid. And so am I.

And just how are the government's efforts to curb England's binge drinking epidemic coming along these days?

I'm still trying to work out how to get the goose and the sack of corn across in one piece.

I'm just trying to figure out what PCs would be stupid enough to actually take passengers along with their "goat". Seriously, any PCs I knew would automatically assume any other passengers would be threats to the success of the job and refuse to take any. (Which isn't a problem, as they would then just make sure the transit fee for the "goat" covered all passenger staterooms, not just the "goat's".)

Maybe they booked the passengers first and the goat commission was a last minute thing when the original transport contract fell through.
