Do creature bites ignore armor by default?
Would a creature stat have to have an AP X next to bites to penetrate armor?
Asking because a creature with a 1D bite damage may never pose a real threat to a well armored Traveller...which could be a boring encounter.
Obviously I can modify any creature with an AP or jaw crushing power to get through the armor, but wondering about the creatures presented in core or supplements on their ability to get through armor.

Bites shouldn't ignore armor.
Like you say, that would be an AP trait. But remember to add the Effect: Roll a 12 on a critter with Melee(bite) 1 and that would add 5 to the damage (12-8) + 1. So in theory, one chance out of 216, it could do 11 points of damage even with only 1D.
Or you could just rule that if it bites you in the face and you weren't wearing a helmet then the armor doesn't count.

If a creature has that little attack power then it isn't *meant* to be a threat to a moderately-armored character, and any encounter with them should just be narrated over.
